This work forms part of the collection assembled by the historian Dorothy Rogers, that was donated to the Kew Historical Society by her son John Rogers in 2015. The manuscripts, photographs, maps, and documents were sourced by her from both family and local collections or produced as references for her print publications. Many were directly used by Rogers in writing ‘Lovely Old Homes of Kew’ (1961) and 'A History of Kew' (1973), or the numerous articles on local history that she produced for suburban newspapers. Most of the photographs in the collection include detailed annotations in her hand. The Rogers Collection provides a comprehensive insight into the working habits of a historian in the 1960s and 1970s. Together it forms the largest privately-donated collection within the archives of the Kew Historical Society.The replacement grave and headstone of Ellen Quick in the Boroondara General Cemetery. She is wearing a dark long-sleeved top and a darker skirt, and mary jane-style shoes. Her hair appears grey and seems to be pulled back into a bun or similar on the crown of her head. Behind her on the left is a paling fence and on the right is a brush-type fence. In the background is a building and a few parked vehicles. There are power lines.

This image is one of a series of photographs taken by Melbourne based photographers Stevenson and McNicoll who visited Bacchus Marsh and its nearby districts between September and November 1883. The house was built for Dr. Rae in 1880 following his retirement from his medical practice due to ill health. He lived there until his death. Dr. Vance then occupied it for a short time. It was bought by the sisters of St. Joseph in 1890 and formed the nucleus of St. Joseph’s Convent. It was demolished in the early years of the twentieth century, when a new two-storey brick convent was built.Small sepia 'carte de viste' style unframed photograph on card with gold border framing photograph. This is a photograph of the Orbost Post Office on the site of the Commonwealth Hotel. The horse -drawn vehicle is a Cunninghame (Lakes Entrance) Coacht. The Post Mistress was Miss Farrell, who was a trained telegraphist. This was the first time the telegraph line had reached Orbost, and was about the year 1895 or 1896. (more info. from Newsletter Npovember 2008) This is a pictorial record of the an early Orbost Post Office. Post Offices are a vital necessity in any town or community playing a very important part in the progress and development of the town and district. This house belonged to Walter Zumstein of the Zumsteins area. The house was burnt down in 1938.
