Nancye Cain (nee Williams) is his wife. Norm Borchers passed away in 2008. Borchers was a Club President of the Sebastopol Lions Club (1975-76). He worked for the railways as an engineering employee and was long-term trade unionist (Amalgamated Engineering Union and the Australian Railways Union) and ALP member; he lived and worked in the Ballarat area. Norm was active in workplace disputes during the ALP split in 1955. Schlossberg Vineyard was situated along Vineyard Road in Sunbury, between Winilba and the Calder Highway. It was established by Felix Frederick Bubeck, who arrived in Australia from Rotenberg (near Stuggart) in the 1860. In 1866 he acquired 60 acres of land on Bald Hill and established the vineyard. In 1880, claret produced on the property received an honourable mention when it was exhibited in Bordeaux, France,From the mid 1850s a number of vineyards were established on the hillsides overlooking Vineyard Road. The east facing outlook that captured the morning sun was ideal for growing grapevines. Other vineyards were also established in the area at the same time.A black and white copy of a postcard of two photographs mounted on the one card with the original handwritten message photocopied on the back. John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the area working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. Harmony Vale was the name of the homestead built by early pioneer Jabez Richardson. The whole of the valley took on this name. The building lasted until 1933. The Silvan Dam was completed in 1932 and was full when this photograph was taken.Black and white photograph looking down over a forested area with a dam in the background. John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the area working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. Taken c1913, this photograph gives a clear indication of where significant buildings were located in relation to one another. Barbers Road is running through the picture with the guest house 'Kia-Ora' , built by George Barber in the centre. High on the skyline on the left is the 'Mountjoy' guesthouse, indicating the location of The Gap, or FiveWays. The small 'boxy' house above 'Kia-Ora' is 'Iona' built by the Paynter family who also built 'Mountjoy'. The Jeeves property 'Kalorama' is to the right of 'Iona' and this is the area you now look to from the FiveWays Lookout. The man in the photo is wearing a trilby hat so is probably a Rose Series employee - a feature in many Rose Series postcards.Black and white photograph that is a copy of Rose Series Postcard # 156. A man can be seen walking down an unmade road with haystacks to his right. Buildings and crops can be seen on the hillsides. Postcard photograph showing a tree fern gully. The title on the front is Gully "Hospice" Olinda. The Hospice was a guest house built in 1904 by Joseph Gutmann in the Main Street of Olinda. The Dorey Family ran The Hospice from 1908 - 1911. The Hospice burned down in 1924. The reverse of the postcard contains a small section of a letter that must be continued elsewhere. Black and white photo. -Micawber Tea Rooms Belgrave shows a group of two men and two women standing on the verandah of a building which bears the signs "Refreshments", "Hot water" and "Micawber Tea Rooms". Black and white photo. -Ted & Lil A'Vard sitting in their lounge room at Micawber Park c. 1935 shows a middle-aged couple in armchairs in front of a brick fireplace. The mantelpiece holds several items including a clock. Behind the woman, on the right side, is a wooden stand with a green vase holding an arrangement of autumn-coloured flowers and foliage. The man is holding a book and there is possibly a dark dog at the woman's feet. B&W postcard, Rose Series P.2365, named 'At The Kiosk, Ferntree Gully, Vic.' Photo shows around twenty or more cars parked outside the kiosk in what is now Ferntree Gully National Park Several people are walking and standing in the carpark and on the paths. The kiosk is visible in the background with advertising signs outside, including one for Peters Ice-cream. Closer to the camera is a stone shelter. There are tall trees beside the carpark and in the background of the photo is a heavily treed hillside. The back of the postcard is blank.
