Book, Murrindindi Shire Council, Beyond Age-From the ashes: portraits of resilience, love and loss, 2011
The devastating Victorian bushfires of February 2009 claimed the lives of 173 people. Since then, residents and property-owners throughout the Shire of Murrindindi have rallied together to reclaim their homes, their communities, their relationships and the landscapes they love. Many of them are senior citizens, who have demonstrated through their resilience, wisdom and sense of humour that age often means nothing more than numbers. From CFA volunteers to church-wardens, shearers to scone-makers, older members of the Shire of Murrindindi continue to play their parts in helping communities rise from the ashes. These are their portraits-and some of their stories.Front cover has a black and white photograph of a bearded man whose story is in the book. Photograph - Codling Collection 01 - Wodonga's 3rd Police Station and Court House
Miss Olive Codling was a Foundation Member and a Life Member of the Wodonga Historical Society. Many of her prize-winning photos are held in the Society Collection. She also held a range of roles and committee positions in a wide range of Wodonga community organisations. WODONGA's 3rd Police Station and Court House were constructed in Elgin Street, Wodonga. The Court House had to be relocated after the earlier building had been destroyed by a fire in 1964. In 1966, the new Wodonga Police Station was built but lay empty and idle for about three months. The reason given was that no furniture was available. After this situation was remedied the station was opened on December 23, 1966. The previous police station was vacated and pulled down. The new station was built in front of the new court house, which had been operating for approximately 12 months. The Police and Court House continued to operate on this site until they were again relocated in 2002. They are now located in Hovell Street, Wodonga. This photo collection is significant as it documents how the businesses and buildings in Wodonga have evolved and contributed to community throughout the 20th century.2 images of the 3rd police station built in Wodonga with the courthouse in the background.wodonga businesses, wodonga police station, wodonga court house -

Photograph - 'Tara Hall', Studley Park Road, 1960
The chapter on Tara Hall formed the introduction to 'Lovely Old Homes of Kew' by Dorothy Rogers. This work forms part of the collection assembled by the historian Dorothy Rogers, that was donated to the Kew Historical Society by her son John Rogers in 2015. The manuscripts, photographs, maps, and documents were sourced by her from both family and local collections or produced as references for her print publications. Many were directly used by Rogers in writing ‘Lovely Old Homes of Kew’ (1961) and 'A History of Kew' (1973), or the numerous articles on local history that she produced for suburban newspapers. Most of the photographs in the collection include detailed annotations in her hand. The Rogers Collection provides a comprehensive insight into the working habits of a historian in the 1960s and 1970s. Together it forms the largest privately-donated collection within the archives of the Kew Historical Society.A photographic reproduction of a plate published by H. de C. Kellett in 1891. The original photographer was J.F.C. Farquaher. The photograph shows Tara Hall (the Byram) in Studley Park Road. The house was demolished in 1960.Tara Hall. Built 1888 (see story).
