Certificate given to Thomas Flanagan for his 23 years of service and residency in Tatura. Signed by A3 size certificate, cream coloured paper with a brown border 2 cm in from the edge. Inside the border are flowers surrounding an of white space which has a letter of thanks printed in black ink. Across the top of the white space is a curved ribbon which has "Thomas Flanagan Esq. JP" printed in fancy writing. The certificate has a brown mount around it and then framed in a brown wooden frame with glass. The original art piece was painted by Australian artist Will Longstaff after he attended the unveiling ceremony of the Menin Gate memorial at the entrance of the Belgian town of Ypres in 1927. The Methodist Girls' Comradeship was formed in 1918 with the first Branch being in Bondi, NSW. There were three sections: Junior Rays, 8 - 11 years; Senior Rays, 11 - 15 years and Comrades, 15 years and over. The aims of the MGC was to "challenge young people with the saving power of Jesus Christ and provide avenues of christian service" and "to provide for the spiritual, social, physical and educational welfare of the members". Eric Boardman Collection The Bubeck family lived at Diggers Rest, Toolernvale Road. Felix Bubeck came to Australia with his mother, father and brother. Felix died in 1917-1918. Felix married Mary Ellen Seuling. Mary Ellen was born in 1861. Mary's father was a blacksmith at Keilor in 1858-1940. He is buried at Keilor Cemetery.
