No. 1 Pipeline heads down the mountain from McKay Power Station (the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme) and can be seen from the Falls Creek Rd.. The pipeline is 1635m long. It was built on the mountain rather than as a tunnel inside the mountain - "It was argued that a pressure pipeline on the surface, while not actually cheaper than the tunnel could possibly save one year in construction time.'The document is a report on the welding involved on the No. 1 pipeline. Military cap dating from 1966, possibly worn by military personnel in West Germany.This cap is significant as an example of military headwear dating to 1960’s West Germany. Olive drab coloured forage or side cap lined with matching colored fabric. Cap has a flap on each side which may be unfolded. Side flaps are joined by by strip of fabric (all one piece), across the front of the cap which when extended, may form a covering for the mouth area. Flap may be secured with a silver stud button attached to each side of cap. Front of cap displays West German roundel in black, red, and yellow set in olive coloured diamond shaped piece of fabric. Off-white manufacturer’s label on inside, sewn to lining with white thread. Cap is size 54. Aboriginal soldiers formed a special all volunteer platoon at No 9 Camp Wangaratta in Victoria from late 1940 until February 1941. No 9 Camp was set up at the Wangaratta Showgrounds to allow the formation of the 2/24th Australian Infantry Battalion prior to leaving for Egypt. Major Joseph Albert Wright a WW1 Light Horse veteran was in charge of this platoon the only Aboriginal squad in the Australian Military Forces at that time. On the right is (Staff )Sergeant Charles Edmund MORRIS V4127 and 7349 who served with the 7th Battalion during WW1.
