A large red, blue and cream wavy lined paper patterned covered Norman Bros., Minute Book with burgundy tape on the spine. This blank book was used by the Silvan Progress Association. Minutes of the first meeting were taken Sat March 1th 1916 and the last minutes were held in the Library Mechanics Hall on 5th Oct. 1922. The book is filled with Minutes of the monthly meetings and has threeo paper insertions - a Mont De Lancey Wine List with three wines and their prices per bottle. A comprehensive catalogue book: Chandeliers and Billy Tea 1880 - 1940. The front cover has brown tonings and shows a full page photograph of many kitchen and household objects from the past. The title is written in different elaborate lettering inside a square shape towards the top of the cover. The author's name, Peter Cuffley, is printed in white lettering at the bottom. Inside is a Contents page with Catalogue references, a Selected Bibliography, Acknowledgements and an Introduction. The directory has a brown fabric cover which has been embossed. The embossing has been worn down and is hard to see. The title is written in gold foiling in the centre of the cover. The directory contains 73 pages of address listings and an additional 24 pages of advertisements. Each town has had its addresses listed by street location and a separate listing of the same addresses listed in alphabetical order by name of occupant. This beaded dress collar is of a style from the mid 20th century - possibly even as early as the 1930's. It is designed to be easily removed and worn with different outfits - e.g. a dress, knitted top or blouse. Articles from Australian newspapers (particularly the Women's fashion pages) in the decades from the 1930's through to the 1950's often mentioned society ladies wearing "beaded collars" when describing their fashions and in the 1950's "beaded collars" were being made and imported from Japan however this particular collar appears to have been handmade. Unfortunately the maker of this collar is unknown.This item is an example of how women in the mid 20th century used their needlework skills to personalise and embellish an item of clothing (a collar) designed in a practical way to be able to be used with different items of clothing. Lady's beaded collar with a decorative floral design of flowers made with blue beads, outlined with bronze beads on a white beaded background. Bronze beads have also been used to "draw" leaf shapes and tendrils and outline a border all around the collar. Demonstrates the production method of the BTPS documents, yields information about the BTPS Annual Reports and has a strong association with the author of the time.Original copies of the BTPS Annual reports used in printing copies for members. Prepared by Warren Doubleday at the time . Printed by a laser printer and then pasted up with the captions, titles and photographs using Scotch Magic tape. Some yellowing of the tape or other tapes used is noticeable. At the time, these were then photocopied to produce the final copies. .1 - 1989- 1990 - front cover, inside cover photos and pages 1 to 8. Financial statements and rear cover photographs not included. .2 - 1990-1991 - the first of the A5 sized reports - pages pasted up for photocopying in a booklet form.
