In 2018 GHS members visited Turner's Bakery in Mernda for lunch and continued on to visit historic sites remaining in the Mernda area. This photograph shows the Mernda Post Office, formerly the Mernda General Store. It is sited in Schotters Road. On 02/04/2016, Greensborough Rotary and Greensborough Hstorical Society members gathered to unveil an updated plaque at the Pioneer Children's Cemetery on the Plenty River. These photos show the new plaque and Steve Whatmough viewing the plaque. Steve is a descendant of the Whatmough family whose children, with their cousins the Partingtons, were buried in this place. In 2013, Gary Partington generously donated farm implements to Greensborough Historical Society. These implements had been used at the family property "Willis Vale" up to the 1960s. From June 2013 until December 2016 these implements were sited in the front garden at the GHS Resource Centre. Unfortunately, the plough, shoe last and kitchen kettle were stolen in December 2016. Article, John Gibson, Len Warren - an Aussie soldier in World War Two, by John Gibson, 2017_12
Account of Len Warren's war service, after enlisting in December 1941 at the age of 18. He served mainly in the 2/43rd Australian Infantry Battalion, in the Middle East against the German forces, and in Papua New Guinea and Borneo against the Japanese. He was wounded, and suffered several bouts of malaria before being discharged in July 1946.
