Charles Partington came to Greensborough with his family in the 1857 to farm along the Plenty River. St Katherine's Anglican Church, also known as the “Rose Chapel” is located at St Helena (Greensborough). Originally the private chapel of the Beale family, the Rose Chapel was named after Major Anthony Beale's wife Katherine Rose. Studio portrait of 5078 Private (Pte) James William Poulter, 22nd Battalion. A driver from Greensborough, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte Poulter embarked with the 13th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Ayrshire on 3 July 1916. St Katherine’s Church St Helena, entry gates with Church in background. St Katherine’s Church was built in 1856 (known as the Rose Chapel after the wife of Major Anthony Beale, Katherine Rose Beale). The Church was destroyed by fire in 1957 then restored. The Cemetery was initially the burial place of the Beale family but now approximately 200 people are buried there. The article was written because of the non observance of the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Walter Withers.Walter Withers was a prominent artist in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He lived in Eaglemont and painted in the Eltham district for many years and was a member of the "Heidelberg School".
