The article was written because of the non observance of the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Walter Withers.

Significance

Walter Withers was a prominent artist in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He lived in Eaglemont and painted in the Eltham district for many years and was a member of the "Heidelberg School". He is buried in St Helena cemetery.
