Martin Crane was the first Bishop of Sandhurst. 1874 - 1901. The knife was probably a gift and is engraved on the front with his name. Martin Crane was a progressive leader in Sandhurst and built many new schools and churches in the Diocese. The knife is significant because it belonged to the first Bishop of Sandhurst, Martin Crane. Irish born Crane was an Augustinian priest before being ordained in 1874. Crane was Bishop of Sandhurst for 27 years. Elaborately engraved sterling silver knife. Floral, leafy design. Probably a cheese or butter knife. The handle sits 90 degrees to the knife blade. This a part of a cutlery set. Bishop. M. Crane. Engraved on the front of knife. Building Stawell Wheat Site situated beside the main rail line behind the Pleasant Creek Training Centre and Woollen Mills. Demolished 1945-1946stawell

The level crossing is the old McKinnon Rd. level crossing right at Mckinnon Railway Station on the Melbourne-Franston line. It no longer exists as the level crossing was amongst the first to be removed in the State Govt. grade separation programme c 2015. The line now runs under Mckinnon Rd in a cutting that holds the new station as well. The folding metal lattice gates were the only ones of their kind in Victoria and fairly rare anywhere else in Australia as well. Newspaper clipping from The Courier, 5-6-1953 titled "New Move to Retain Buninyong Line", about a letter from Minister of Transport that the Victorian Railways were not prepared to maintain the bridges on the line that was closed in 1947, despite representations from the Shire of Buninyong. The Shire was asking for assistance from other Councils and Members of Parliament. Yields information about the work to rebuild the bridge over the creek on the Mt Pleasant Line.Newspaper cuttings pasted onto a single foolscap sheet, titled "Bridge Work Cuts Tram Line" dated 7/6/1955, with handwritten notes associated with the work on the Mt Pleasant line, Barkly St, Pennyweight Creek, underneath. Loose within the book was another cutting titled "Impossible", featuring a tram at the work site and the Detour sign - dated 5-7-1955, noting the work in almost complete.
