Metal sign with embossed lettering, the corners have been folded over with mounting holes put through the thicker sections. The embossing reads: 'This Land is Auriferous and Subject to Mining Conditions.' The sign is very rusted and there is no trace of the original paintwork. A handwritten note with the sign reads: 'This sign was found covered by grass and eucalyptus leaves etc., at the side of the road leading past the Eucy. Factory in the vicinity of the Whipstick forest. Found in 1977 by Jean and Ross Miller, Wireless Street, Kangaroo Flat. At the time of scanning the lead article. In the early days of the establishing the new secondary campus many of the school signs were handmade, often by staff member Frank Scambler, but also by dedicated parents and friends of the school. This sign is representative of the 'handmade' nature of school signage during the early establishment of the Westbourne Truganina campus.Glass panel with the front painted with blue background and "WESTBOURNE" hand painted in yellow. A thin gold film has been adhered to the top and bottom edges. The reverse is spray painted in yellow and blue and a piece of masking tape containing inscriptions is adhered to the middle.On the masking tape on the reverse, "AZURE/ BLUE/ 2 OFF.

The building was originally the Colonial Bank of Australasia and has a series of occupants, include a real estate firm in the 1970's20cm x 10cm black and white photograph of 1 Powlett street, former colonial bank of Australasia. corner of Powlett Street and Lancefield Road. Two story light coloured rendered building with signage for "Real Estate House" on top of the ground floor. Other signage painted on the Lancefield Road side of the building include: "Land specialists to Kilmore & district". The building also has an adjoining cottage on the Lancefield Road side of the property. There is also a figure crossing the road and five vehicles in the background of the photograph, three regular vehicles and two possible emergency service vehicles. James Baines was principal of Torquay primary school, a local historian and genealogist and authority on Australian plants. He and his wife Ray were responsible for the manufacture and erection of street signs in the fledgling township of Torquay circa 1937.
