Alfred Donald Senior studied Electrical Engineering at the Ballarat Schoo of Mines (SMB) between 1927-33. He worked as an Instructor in Electric Welding at SMB between 1932 and 1967 receiving a certificate of Electrical Engineering, and greatly enjoyed his association with SMB as a student and instructor. Senior was an A. Grade Electrical Mechanic (A.M.I.E.I.s Vic and NSW) and was employed at the SEC Elec. Supply Co of Vic 1927-1970. He became Chief Electrical Inspector for the Mid-Western region.Hand embroidered pocket, framed in timber behind glass. The blazer pocket belonged to A.D. Senior who studied Electical Engineering at the Ballarat School of Mines from 1927 to 1933. from 1927 to 1933.On back of frame: "Mr A.D. Senior. Electrical Engineering student 1927-33. As a member of the Port Melbourne Historical and Preservation Society, donor Arthur ROWAN photographed a series of significant buildings in the Port and South Melbourne area over several years. The copy of this book is from the first publication and is rare. The book is set in the Yarra Ranges area with the characters based on local people. THe donors childhood pet dog "Chad" featured as a character in the book in chapter 12 p. 87. The daughter of the owner of Debbie, Patricia Reed (nee McKenzie) lives in South Belgrave. The story of Debbie mothering a kangaroo is based on a true story. The donor also advised that this remarkable dog also rescued and looked after a cat. 126 page hard covered children's fiction book titled "A Dog Called Debbie". Front cover depicts a black and white dog mothering a kangaroo, on a green background. The back cover features an excerpt from the forward by A. R. Chisholm, OBE Hon. D. Litt, Professor Emeritus and an illustration of the dog and Kangaroo playing. North Deborah Mine in Eve Street, Bendigo, operated between 1937 and 1954. A letter is handwritten to Principal of the Ballarat School of Mines, E..J. Barker, requesting a tour of the School, and the proposed Mt Helen Campus. The letter is signed by Alice Horner of the Ballarat Study Group Committee. Other members of the Ballarat Committee were J. Hanford Stevens, Jack Chisholm, J.T. Kilfoyle, Dr A. King and B. McOrist.
