A heritage jumper worn by the Cargnham Linton Football Netball Club senior football team in the 2018 match against Skipton commemorating the 50th year of the amalgamated Cargnham Linton club. The jumper features the club's red, white and black colours on the front with logos and all football premierships of the Cargnham, Linton and Cargnham Linton football teams. The back of the jumper features a combination of the royal blue and gold sash of the former Linton Football Club and the royal blue and red sash of the former Cargnham Football Club. This jumper was donated to the Linton and District Historical Society has player number 22 on the back. This appropriately recognises 100 years since the Linton Football Club premiership year of 1922. Donated to the Society 100 years later in 2022.Football jumper made from synthetic material to commemorate 100 years of when Linton Football Club won the premiership in 1922. Front of jumper is made up of black, white and red stripes. Across centre front of jumper are three shields representing Carngham, Carngham Linton and Linton football clubs prior to and since amalgamation to one club. Below the shields are lists of when the above teams won significant premierships. The date is approximate. Tavistock was built c1890. In 1897 it was the home of the Walker family; Joyce Walker later became matron of Mosgiel Hospital. In 1902 it became the first site of Milverton Girls School. From 1930s to 1960s it was home to Miss Marjorie Vahland, a locally well-known nursing sister. See History Walks No 5, p 11 and p32 Surrey Hills In Celebration of its Centennial 1883-1983.Colour photo of detail under the front verandah of Tavistock at 192 Union Road, Surrey Hills during restoration during 1978-1982. The house is Victorian in style, of red brick construction with a patterned slate tile roof and decorative chimneys. This photo shows the decorative tiles around the window under the front verandah. These had been stripped of white paint. The photo is taken prior to repainting the masonry. Similar decorative tiles were later also found around the windows at the front. Demonstrates how the SEC used enameled signs to convey instructions to passengers and confirm the advice of the conductor.An enameled sign, with black letters and border lines on an off-white background. Sign reads "Passengers are requested to present the correct amount of Fare." Two holes on the left and right hand sides have been made to attach the sign to the tram cab. There are rust marks permeating the enamel on the front. And paint has been used on the RH side to cover chipped enamel. The reverse has been coated in black enamel, with rust marks showing where the enamel was placed on a frame prior to firing, and where the enamel has chipped away from the outer edge.tramways sign, enameled tramway signage -

The Dive, in Elgar Road Park was formed when water seeped into the hole from which clay had been quarried for brick-making. In 1905 the Surrey Swimming Club was formed and carnivals were held regularly. J A Geer's grocery store operated from 1909-1912 on the site established by George Sim in 1884. He bought a house and added a shop where, in 1889, he established the first post office in the area. Prior to this residents had to go the Box Hill to collect mail. Date is approximate.This records one of the earliest businesses in Surrey Hills. To begin with, businesses developed along Canterbury Road rather than Union Road, in part because of the muddy nature of the land north of the railway line.Black and white photo taken from a postcard of Canterbury Road, near the corner of Union Road, looking west in 1906 or 1907. Two children play on the LHS of the street and there is a man on a horse and carriage, and a cart, on the RHS. This book is part of a collection of books, photos and memorabilia donated from the Chatham-Holmes family collection. This little prayer book was owned by Edith Holmes ( nee Pickford) and was presented to her as an enrolled member of the Jesuit Seminary Association. Edith converted from Methodism to Catholicism prior to marrying Henry Holmes.This small blue, leather bound book has the title and a cross printed in gold on the front cover and the title on the spine. There is a picture of Jesus on the title page and the printing in the book is black and some headings are printed in red. It is 125 pages but page 33/34 is missing (The attached red marker ribbon is at this spot). A small card has been taped into the front of the book showing that Mrs Edith Holmes had been enrolled as a member of the Jesuit Seminary Association on 4 January 1967.
