Black and white negative, by Wal Jack, of W5 801 turning from Lygon St into Holmes Road via Albion St, East Brunswick. The tram has the destination of East Coburg. The tram is fitted with a head light mask. There appears to be a solider on the tram, along with a trammies in uniform cap sitting down in the drop centre. The conductor could be on the other side of the tram. In the background is a tram stop shelter, a wall advert for the Liberty Theatre, a fire alarm pillar and a drinking fountain. Black and white negative, by Wal Jack, of S160, east bound in Holden St passing the Holden St Reserve on the corner of Byrne St. The Lygon St destination is shown, which is not correct. Note the bus stop sign on the adjacent pole. Tram is fitted with a headlight mask. It is thought that one end of the tram generally would show St Georges Road and the other Lygon St. Possibly mixed up. Also see other photos of the tram on the same date. Yields information about the track maintenance activities of the track gang in Ballarat, the work they did, notes, names and other information.Book - SEC "Workshop Job Requisition" book - numbered 2856 to 2900, three sheets per requisition - yellow, blue and off white kept in book. Has some 20 areas where information on the requisition could be recorded - on the rear sheet is provision for extending the cost of the job and accounting information. The off white sheet has been by the SEC Ballarat track gang to record their daily work, welding, track cleaning, etc for the period 1-8-1950 to 12-2-1951. Yields information about Ballarat tramcars in 1950, old tickets and demonstrates letters between the SEC and Wal Jack.Letter from SEC Ballarat Office to Wal Jack on SEC Letterhead, dated 12 July 1951 concerning withdrawn transfer tickets, 2d child's tickets of the 1930's and salmon coloured 4d check tickets. Last paragraph covers the numbering of three trams recently received from the MMTB (38 to 40). Has the initials WGV:PM, signed for T. A. Farr as Manager. Paper has a Daglea Watermark. Yields information about the delivery of bogie trams form Melbourne and that became No. 38Set of two Negative and Digital images of the Wal Jack Ballarat Negative file of ex MMTB No. 41, being lifted or lowered on jacks within the Ballarat tram depot. Tram still has the white war time black out markings on the bumper and the front dash panel. The tram became No. 38. .1 - Beams either being readied for lifting of after lifting. Report on PCC type tramcar No. 980, 6 pages + blue print graph of acceleration compared with SW6 886 contained within one bound document titled "Performance of PCC Car No. 980". Dated 31/8/1951. Report looks at some safety concerns of the tramcar - rollback when starting on a steep positive grade, bucking of the car, high rate of acceleration and controller settings. Documents stapled on left hand side and bound with adhesive tape. Two copies held. Invitation/ticket and program for a screening of Sound Films made available by the Department of Information, held at St Kilda Town Hall on 12 November 1941. The films were of events in Tobruk, Bardia, Greece, Syria and Britain.
