Ceramic - Ceramic, acrylic paint, gold lustre and mix media, Bundit Puangthong et al, FLESH, 2018
In creating these pieces, Vipoo Srivilasa initiated the process by sculpting three figures with bare surfaces. Bundit Puangthong then added his artistic touch by painting each sculpture. The artists' conceptual visions harmonized perfectly, especially considering their shared commitment to Buddhist principles, which frequently inspire their respective artistic practices. After Bundit completed his painting, Vipoo enlivened the pieces by adding eyes to the figures. He also embellished the works with pom-poms, lending them a softness that makes them appear both approachable and innocent, despite the weightiness of their themes. Each sculpture embodies a specific teaching from Buddhism: "FLESH" features a golden umbrella, serving as a metaphor for sex. -

Equipment - EPIRB Transmitter
This distress EPIRB unit (Emergency Position Indication Radio Beacon) was found on the beach at Levy's Point, Warrnambool, in December 2000 by a Warrnambool resident. Local police were alerted at the time. This distress signal unit is a world-wide COSPAS/SARSAT, satellite assisted, SAR (Search and Rescue) system for location of distress transmissions emitted by an EPIRB. Offshore cruising vessels must have such a unit as part of its essential safety equipment. This model EPIRB relies on four satellites with orbit times of approximately 100 minutes. Earlier units relied solely on aircraft flying overhead to detect and forward on the EPIRB’s location to Search And Rescue authorities, whereas this new system utilises satellites. An employee from the Lokata firm provided additional information about the Lokata EPIRB units. They had a machined aluminium case with labels that were also made on site. The units could be activated manually or automatically released when a magnetic switch in the case casing was activated. This later model, circa 1983, would have been mounted externally on a vessel's bulkhead in a spring-loaded, stainless-steel protective 'skeleton' mounting, The unit released when the water pressure sensor detected a set time it was under the water, in a similar way that life crafts were released. Each unit was registered to a particular vessel - the vessel's details on this unit are indecipherable. The Lokata Company was established in 1970, designing and manufacturing marine products including communications. The company no longer makes products with the “Lokata” brand. In 2001 Sartech Engineering Ltd. took over the support for the Lokata EPIRB beacons. This emergency location device is a late 20th century invention to help save lives at sea. It adds to the history of maritime life, its risks, the lives lost as sea, and the many inventions aimed as rescuing and saving lives. The local area is notorious for the number of lives lost through shipwreck. It also carries stories of heroic efforts to save lives, and other inventions to help reduce the chance of accidents at sea.EPIRB unit; “Emergency Position Indication Radio Beacon”. This document documents the results of archaeological excavations conducted within the grounds of Villa Alba in Kew, by Maddy Maitri (Maitri Archaeology) in October 2002. The testing was conducted as part of the design development stage of a proposed landscape reconstruction. The broad aim of subsurface testing at Villa Alba was to determine the presence, location and depth below ground of archaeological remains relating to a number of landscape features identified in historical plans, photographs, survey field books and aerial photographs. This information would then be used by the landscape architect in the development of a design which approximates the 1880s/1890s landscape of Villa Alba.Contents: Acknowledgements / Abbreviations / List of figures / List of tables / List of plates / Introduction / Historical context / Methodology / Results and interpretations / Discussion / Recommendations / References / Appendix 1 - Plates / Appendix 2 - Content list / Appendix 3 - Copy of Heritage Victoria permit. Geological specimen - Azurite, Unknown
Azurite is a secondary copper mineral made by the weathering of copper sulphide ore deposits. Azurite is formed from copper, carbon, oxygen and hydrogen. There are over 45 forms of azurite that are more well-known, however over 100 forms have been found. Azurite is also commonly found together with Malachite, and Azurite is often psuedomorphed to Malachite. This specimen was found at the Great Cobar Copper Mine in New South Wales, which was founded in 1870. At the time it was one of the largest mining operations in the world. It was the largest copper mine in Australia and housed the southern hemisphere’s tallest chimney stack. The international price of copper collapsed at the end of World War 1 which led to the closure of the Great Cobar Mine on March 16th 1919. A year later on March 10th 1920 an underground fire in the CSA (Cornish, Scottish, Australian) mine started and burned for 16 years. The closure of the mine and the fire left thousands jobless and many people left the area. These were factors in Cobar facing a long stretch of poverty, until a boom in the 1960s led to the reopening of the mine. The mine still operates today, obtained by Metals Acquisition Limited in June 2023. Azurite is considered an uncommon mineral. Named for its deep blue colour, azurite was historically used for pigment making and as a gemstone, despite its softness. This specimen was donated to the Burke Museum between 1868-1880 as part of a larger collection of geological and mineral specimens. Many of the specimens in this collection were obtained as part of the Geological Survey of Victoria, which started in 1852. The Survey aimed to map the scientific makeup of the earth.A solid copper mineral with shades of darker blues almost covering it.burke museum, beechworth, indigo shire, beechworth museum, geological, geological specimen, mineralogy, cobar mines, great cobar copper mine, cobar mining, new south wales, azurite, azurite specimen -

Book - Skiing Into History 1924 - 1984, Janis M. Lloyd, 1986
The history of the Ski Club of Victoria is really a history of skiing in Victoria. When the Club was founded in 1924, skiing as a sport was almost unknown and what primitive skiing there was centred on the Chalet at Mt. Buffalo. Today's alpine resorts were non-existent; the Victorian alpine region was a winter wilderness and ski equipment was scarce. So the handful of SCV founders and their successors set out to foster and develop Victorian skiing. The Ski Club of Victoria story highlights the dedication and spirit of its members united in their aim to develop skiing. It tells of the enormous difficulties endured and the supreme efforts of the adventurous founders who, in working damned hard for their pleasures, opened up Victoria's alpine resources for skiing. It tells too of the devotion and persistence of those who have willingly served on the Committees and of the numerous unsung heroes who have, throughout the life of the Club, contributed unselfishly to its maintenance and development as a "labour of love". Their collective zeal and dedication to skiing is reflected directly in the mammoth achievements of the Ski Club of Victoria, achievements that have been largely responsible for the steady and sound development of skiing in Victoria and needless to say the viability and respected status of the Club itself.A volume of 731 pages including plans, tables, maps and illustrations plus 4 pages of colour plates. The cover is red with a silver border and title. It also features a representation of a skier.non-fictionThe history of the Ski Club of Victoria is really a history of skiing in Victoria.
