This is significant as the school officially opened an early learning centre (kindergarten) and primary school on this day 17 February 1963 after recently closing the Drummond street, Carlton campus. This is one of the first photographs taken at Bialik College's second school site where considerable investment was made by the community to build a larger school on a new campus with modern education facilities and more classrooms for the first time at 6 Shakespeare Grove Hawthorn.events, 1960s

Newspaper Article 1: "As in previous years Jewish schools will participate in Education Week which will be held in Victoria from August 14-21, 1966. Most schools have arranged "Open Days" at which parents are expected to attend the school and visitors are cordially invited..." Newspaper Article 2: " The following schools have registered their "open Days" as published hereunder. It is possible that schools which have not informed the Board of Deputies might also have arranged "open Days" and should be contacted as to dates and times etc..." Newspaper Article 3: "Mr. Moshe Meretz arrived in Melbourne on Tuesday to take up his position as Headmaster of Bialik College. Mr. Meretz who is accompanied by his wife and five-year old son, is Israeli born and educated. He is a graduate of Teachers' Seminary institute in Haifa and was a teacher and headmaster of primary and more recently secondary schools in Hafia. Apart from his tecahing qualifications Mr. Meretz has a law degree from Tel Aviv branch of Hebrew University. Mr. Meretz was already at the college on Wednesday and was welcomed by the staff and pupils. Bialik College Council is confident that Mr. Meretz' presence in Melbourne will not only benefit the school but will have an impact on Hebrew education in the community as did that of his predecessor Mr. A. In 2005 Dr Joe Toscano was instrumental in establishing the Eureka Australia Day Medal. The old Sebastopol Town Hall was erected in 1868 and opened on 19 March, 1869. The newer Town Hall was rebuilt in the 1950s and opened on 20 December 1960. This is a port crock with No. 89 of a special edition of 150 crocks commemorating the restoration of the Old Sunbury Court House. The restoration of the old courthouse which was built in 1885 with an extension to the front and right hand side added in 1965 before the courthouse closed in 1989. The courthouse was restored and reopened in February 1993 as the Visitor Information Centre.The Sunbury Court of Petty Sessions building was built in 1885. Extensions were added in 1965 with the courthouse closing in 1989. After the closure local residents formed a committee to save the courthouse and for it to be used for the benefit of the community this was achieved and with the Shire of Bulla council help was restored and the building reopened as the Sunbury Visitor Information Centre in 1993. The Visitor Information Centre closed and shifted across the road to the Hume Global Learning Centre.A cream and brown stoneware port crock with a small handle that has a paper tag tied to the handle with raffia. Site plan drawing of the Shepparton Aboriginal Arts Council building, now known as the Bangerang Cultural Centre. The building is located in the Parkside Gardens, formerly the Shepparton International Village, and is the first Aboriginal cultural museum developed and managed by the Aboriginal community. The building is part of the Victorian Heritage Register. Romberg designed the building in conjunction with project instigator and Bangerang Elder, John Sandy Atkinson, OAM. John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the area working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. The building in the centre of the photograph is 'Kia-Ora' guest house. Situated on Barber’s Road, ‘Kia-Ora’ was built in 1912 by George Barber. It was later leased by a Mrs Pemberthy. “Kia-Ora’ was one of four places connected when the telephone was brought into the district in 1912. The other places were ‘Mountjoy’, ‘Cherry Farm’ and ‘Callum House’. ‘Kia-Ora’ was burnt down in 1924. Black and White copy of section of a Rose Series postcard. William Dower brought his family to the Dandenongs in 1898, taking up 10 acres. His property was Cambridge Gardens located between the present Mt Dandenng Tourist Road and Yarrabee Road. William and his wife Elizabeth had seven boys (Will, Harry, Bert, Walter, Joe, Edgar, Robert) and four girls (Emmy, may, Ada and Ruby). This photograph shows raspberry picking at Cambridge Gardens c1907. The Dower Homestead is visible. The boys in the floppy felt hats are from Burwood Boys Home. Ruby Dower is centre front. This photograph shows approximately the same area as photograph number KAL0193 but is taken 60 years later. The trees have grown much taller and the buildings changed. On the site of the Paynter house 'Iona' there is now the 'Yosemite' (Villa Toscana) accommodation. The pavilion in the centre of the photo is the site of 'Kalorama', home of early pioneer Isaac Jeeves. Taken c1913, this photograph gives a clear indication of where significant buildings were located in relation to one another. Barbers Road is running through the picture with the guest house 'Kia-Ora' , built by George Barber in the centre. High on the skyline on the left is the 'Mountjoy' guesthouse, indicating the location of The Gap, or FiveWays. The small 'boxy' house above 'Kia-Ora' is 'Iona' built by the Paynter family who also built 'Mountjoy'. The Jeeves property 'Kalorama' is to the right of 'Iona' and this is the area you now look to from the FiveWays Lookout.
