Possibly a copy print. 1 - looking at operations in Wallen Road with W2 353 (Hawthorn route 27) returning to the depot and two W2s (possibly 330 and 332) shunting in Wallen Road. 2 - SW6 855 and SW6 848 are on roads 5 and 6 in the "new" shed at Hawthorn. The depot ceased as a running shed on 14/2/1965. Black and white photograph of W3 669 standing (appears to have just arrived) on the entry to Nos. 1 and 3 roads at Essendon depot. The tram has a run number (E48), is showing Essendon Depot. From shadows is late in the afternoon. Date of photo taken based on the series of photos received from the ARHS as being during Oct. and Dec. 1965. On Kodak paper. W3's were not based or attached to Essendon and would thus appear to be a visiting tram, but in service due to the presence of a run number. Relates to the driver training system at the time. A later version of that of Reg item 271.Set of six foolscap sheets duplicated, titled "Tramcar Emergency Braking", giving instructions for emergency braking of tramcars for Ballarat and a set of relevant questions and answers, subtitled "Tramcar Braking". Gives description of system, the various means of what to do if the system fails - dated 2th January 1965. The Questions and answers concern the braking system. This photo provides just one example of the beautiful costumes worn by Junior Legacy girls for Legacy's Annual Demonstrations at the Melbourne Town Hall. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and eurythmics, the Demonstration was an annual event to showcase their skills. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades from 1928 through to the late 1970's, usually held at Melbourne Town Hall or Olympic Pool Stadium. The beautiful costumes were made by members of the Junior Legacy Mothers' Club and the Melbourne Legacy Wives' Association. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. It was the first independent school of nursing in Victoria and continued until it closed in 1989. The book "The First of its Kind" was published in 2015. Printed in Bendigo by "Bendigo Modern Press". Robin Boyd wrote two books on Japanese architects and architecture - “Kenzo Tange” published by George Braziller in 1962 and “New Directions in Japanese Architecture” published by Studio Vista in 1968. During the 1960s he travelled several times to Japan to research these books and as part of his role as Exhibits Architect for the Australian Pavilion at Expo ‘70 in Osaka.
