Letter dated 2/06/2012 from the St Kilda Historical Society to Glen Eira Historical Society asking for further information as well as providing some items on Glen Eira’s history Attachment to above letter of information about Glen Eira printed from Melbourne Mansions Database on 30/05/2012 about Glen Eira House referencing the Argus newspaper for 10/03/1865 and 25/07/1881, ‘Sand, Swamp and Heath’, ‘Caulfield’s Building Heritage and Pioneer Families’. Entry is dated 27/06/1997. Second attachment to above letter of a memo detailing information about Glen Eira mansion form History and Heritage Officer at City of Glen Eira together with an image extract of birth notices from the Argus 22/5/1863 re the birth of a daughter to W.Lamborn Esq on 20/05/1863 at Glenalry house Caulfield Third attachment to above letter of questions and parish plan image re properties including area occupied by Glen Eira from Heritage Officer St Kilda Historical Society Southern Scenarion quarterly newsletter of the Royal Southern Memorial Hospital Issue No. 7 Winter 1988. It contains a black and white photograph of Glen Eira with a brief history of the residence and owner on P 2 plus an article on P 3 about the bequest from the late Rudolph Ashley Ricketson for the Ashley Ricketson Centre in the hospital. Demolition of the mansion occurred in 1965. Newspaper article (source & date unknown) about the bequest from Ashley Ricketson of $10.5 million to the Southern Memorial Hospital in Caulfield. It is on the site of Glen Eira, demolished 4 years prior. The Diamond Valley Community Hospital was established in 1942 in Grimshaw Street Greensborough. This album records the redevelopment/building program in 1990-1991, and includes functions such as 'Turning the Sod' and many photos of buildings under construction. Due to financial circumstances, the hospital closed in 2000. This collection of photo albums is from the 1990s and was collected by staff. Photographs include staff, patients, buildings and functions held for the hospital. Photographs are not named. Albums may be accessed at the GHS Resource Centre. This volume is numbered 6. As the Diamond Valley Community Hospital is now closed, this collection of albums records some of the people involved. Many of the old hospital buildings in Grimshaw Street are still in use as medical rooms and it is interesting to see them being built in 1990.Photo album with dark blue cover. 56 pages, 253 photographs of varying sizes. This stethoscope , or auriscope, came from the Royal Devon & Exeter hospital in 1958 when the maternity unit was transferred to the new City Hospital. Dr Walker in his correspondence states: "The foetal auriscope is from the days of modesty, came from the Royal Devon & Exter Hospital in 1958, when its maternity ward transferred to the new City Hospital and storage for memorabilia was unavailable." This item is similar to Stoke's stethoscope, or Barclay's stethoscope, as illustrated in Tiemann's catalogue of 1899. The stem of this stethoscope is, however, much longer than either of these. The stethoscope came with a letter written to Dr Walker's maternal grandfather by Dr. James Young Simpson. This letter was transferred to the RANZCOG Archives following conservation treatment by the Conservation Centre.A lightweight wooden stethoscope with long stem and a black ebony bell on one end. This interview was recorded in May 2016 as part of the Wounded Soldier exhibition. The Wounded Soldier ran in November 2016, exploring No. 11 Australian General Military Hospital (later Caulfield Hospital) and its impact on Glen Eira's community during and after the First World War. The audio file catalogued here is an edited excerpt from the larger interview, designed for use in the exhibition. Deirdre Farrell trained as a nurse at Caulfield Hospital in the 1960's. Her father Les Campbell was a First World War veteran, and Deirdre grew up on a soldier settlement farm. This interview explores her childhood, her relationship with her father, her experience of repatriation medicine and her memories of Caulfield Hospital. This oral history is significant as the firsthand testimony of the child of a First World War veteran and for its recollections of Caulfield Hospital in the 1960's.
