Brought to the Ovens Goldfields by Chinese men working in the area in the 19th century. Most likely made in China.Aldo Gios recorded the location of where most of the pieces in this collection were found. Some maps drawn by Aldo Gios also give more detail. This detail is rare, as most pieces of broken crockery were discarded and complete items were usually collected with no thought to recording the location they came from. The Cash Book was used by the Shire of Bulla Electric Light Department to record by hand writing costs associated with supplying electricity, employee wages and users of electricity between October 1909 and November 1926. The first two generators supplied the township of Sunbury and together with the erection of a Power House were officially opened in 1910. The inks used were fabric printing inks and two colours were applied at the one time on the same roller, the roller being inked with green on one side and red on the other. The roller was a sponge paint roller 100mm wide. The technique used was 'soft bed release'. This is where the fabric is placed over a soft bed (woolen blanket with cotton overlay) and the inked block is placed on top of the fabric, then body weight is applied to the back of the block by placing the hands on the block and transferring weight through the body and into the hands.
