Unveiled Saturday 13 October 1990. Russell Yeoman advised (14 Jun 2017 society meeting) that the Shire of Eltham had been given a plaque to commemorate Walter Withers and that the rock was sourced from west of Melbourne with funds from a local government grant. The initial crane to lift the rock in place was too small and another crane was arranged. Prior to the election of female Councillors and Mayors in the 1960’s, the Lady Mayoress role was one of the few ways women could officially undertake civic duties. Mayoresses made important contributions to their local communities through their charity work and as ambassadors for their region on a state and federal level. They also undertook some Mayoral duties on occasions when their husband was unavailable. The Greensborough Inter Church Council was formed in 1989 at a meeting of the Greensborough Ministers Fraternal, with 8 churches initially involved. The Council organised ecumenical activities and services at Christmas and Easter and co-operatively organised many other activities in the area including the annual Family Carol Service. This folder contains agenda and minutes from some meetings, correspondence, advertising flyers and newspaper clippings on various activities. The Diamond Valley Community Hospital was established in 1942 in Grimshaw Street Greensborough. This album records the redevelopment/building program in 1990-1991, and includes functions such as 'Turning the Sod' and many photos of buildings under construction. Due to financial circumstances, the hospital closed in 2000. This collection of photo albums is from the 1990s and was collected by staff. Photographs include staff, patients, buildings and functions held for the hospital. Photographs are not named. Albums may be accessed at the GHS Resource Centre. This volume is numbered 6. As the Diamond Valley Community Hospital is now closed, this collection of albums records some of the people involved. A Legacy ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance in April 1990. One of the annual "Anzac Commemoration Ceremony for Students" events, usually held just prior to ANZAC Day. The ceremony provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain an appreciation of the Anzac spirit, the significance of the Shrine and the meaning of Anzac Day. The photos shows a pair of students with wreaths walking past defence force personnel in formation on the forecourt of the Shrine.
