Typed on back of another copy: Police Inspector A. Angus challenging the R.A.E. on their right to enter Rignwood. O.C. replies. this took place outside the entrane to the Railways Station. Date Stamp 27 Mar 1965.

Catalogue card reads, 'R.A.E. Band. "Freedom of City". 34d Div. Engineers'. Written on backing of photograph, 'RAE band from Kapooka, N.S.W. 7/3/65. "Freedom" 3rd Div. Eng.' Two photographs and two extra slightly cropped versions. Handwritten on the back of 11168-4 "The Royal Australian Engineers Corps Band from Kapooka (NSW) moved into position near four Mounted Troopers during a march through Ringwood on March 27. The troopers supported Police Inspector A. Angus, who acted as Town Marshall to challenge 200 Members of the Royal Australian Engineers, 3rd Division. The Regiment gained entry to the City by the production of a Freedom of the City Scroll presented by the Mayor of Ringwood (Cr. B.J. Hubbard)."

16mm Kodak Film (Eastman Plus-X Reversal Safety Film Type 7276) of the presentation of Freedom of the City of Ringwood to the Royal Australian Engineers in March 1965 (later renamed to 22nd Engineer Regiment, RAE). The film title indicates made by ABC but no other information. There is no sound on the film. It was digitised in 2023 by Aidem Media and the resulting .mp4 is attached to this record. Two newspaper items giving further information are also attached - one has a number of photos which match scenes in the film, verifying the occasion

Buff coloured booklet referring to the freedom of entry to the City of Ringwood being granted upon Royal Australian Engineers 3 Division. This booklet is the Procedure for Official Guests. Two copies - one has Offical Car Park sticker affixed inside.

Buff coloured letter dated 11th March 1965, stating the Council has "decided that as a fitting climax to the ceremony of conferring upon the Unit (Royal Engineers 3 Division) the Freedom of Entry to Ringwood, a Ball be held at the Unit's depot in Dublin road, Ringwood east, on the night of the ceremony - that is, the 27th March next" Proceeds to the appeal for erection of the proposed Maroondah Cojmmunity Hospital. Invitation signed by B.J. Hubbard, Mayor - City of Ringwod Note: At the time of cataloguing (May 2024), no photos of the Ball have been found, nor any reference to the Ball in local newspapers.
