According to an article on page 13 of The Melbourne Argus on Wednesday 15 June 1921, Ethyl May Lynn was a successful candidate at the examinations held by The Royal Victorian Trained Nurses' Association held in May 1921.The Lynn family is well-known in the Orbost area. Ethel Lynn is believed to have been working at Bairnsdale in 1924. Ethyl Lynn was the onlychild of Samuel James Lynn and Elizabeth Jane Lynn ( nee Warren). Samuel Lynn (1865-1949) was a farmer and grazier at Jarrahmond and bred Clydesdales.A certicate on a board. The certificate is from the Bairnsdale District Hosptal - the Training School for Nurses. It is inscribed to Ethel May Lynn. There is a badge associated with this -544.2

Born Celia Elizabeth Prince in 1930, Celia Rosser began painting Australian wildflowers early in her artistic career. She first began painting Banksias after seeing a Banksia serrata near her home in Orbost, Victoria. She lived in Orbost in the 1960's( her husband had been posted to Orbost High School) where she painted and drew native flowers , in particular, banksias. Her first exhibition was at Leveson Gallery in Melbourne in 1965, and included three watercolours of Banksia species. Two years later she published Wildflowers of Victoria.Celia Elizabeth Rosser (born 1930) is a renowned Australian botanical illustrator, best known for having published The Banksias, a three-volume series of monographs containing watercolour paintings of every Banksia species. She began painting Australian wildflowers early in her artistic career. She first began painting Banksias after seeing a Banksia serrata near her home in Orbost, Victoria.A small book titled Wildflowers of Victoria and written by Celia Rosser. It was published in 1967 by Jacaranda Press. The covers are stiff card and it has an illustration of a banksia on the front cover. It has 105 pp and contains coloured illustrations. This cup and saucer set was issued as a souvenir of the opening of the Federal Parliament in Canberra in 1927. The building was opened by Prince Albert, the Duke of York who was accompanied by Elizabeth, the Duchess of York. The Duke of York later became King George VI of England. The colonies in Australia became Federated States in 1901 and from that date to 1927 the Australian Federal Parliament sat in Melbourne. When Canberra became the capital of Australia a Parliament House building was erected at a cost of £600,000 but it is now known as Old Parliament House as the present Parliament House was opened in 1988. This cup and saucer set is of interest as a memento of an important event in Australia’s history – the creation of a capital city and the opening of the first Federal Parliament House. It will be useful for display. This is a white china cup and saucer set. Both the cup and saucer have two gold bands around the rims and are decorated with black ornamentation and the portraits of the Duke and Duchess of York contained within gold oval patterns. The old Diamond Street bridge in Eltham had a raised section seen here and a lower section, the railings of which can just be seen. The upper pedestrian crossing provided continual access for foot traffic during times of flood. Florence May Aldous was born 1883, her sister Elizabeth Annie was born 1 Nov. 1885 A duplicate image is contained in Album 2 (05664) Aldous family assumption was that the child was Elizabeth Annie. However upon further investigation with the original source of information written on back of a duplicate photo has confirmed in Annies hand it says “my mother and father”. Given that photo was handed down Elizabeth Annie's line, it is a reasonable presumption to have thought the child was Elizabeth Annie however it begs to question why her elder sister by two years is not in the photo.
