Event included President's Report and Installation of Legatee T. C. Bannister as Melbourne Legacy President for 1985. Each year Melbourne Legacy would have an Annual Dinner for the installation of the incoming President (Changeover dinner). It is one of the most important events of the year. Up until 2005 each President served for one year. Whilst the rules of the Club nominate one year terms, since 2005 Presidents have been renominated to serve for a second year. The newsletter from July 1952. It featured Queen Elizabeth on the cover. There was a piece on the Anzac Commemoration with a copy of the President's address. Pages showed news from the different Boys and Girls Classes. Plus a piece on the Mothers' Club and the Intermediate Club activities. A newsletter published by Legacy in this format for many years from 1942. It mentions "Issued from time to time for Private Circulation among the Sons and Daughters of Deceased Service men and Merchant Seamen who served their Country during the War of 1914-18, or the present War". The street scene is lined with many people and cars of the day are parked at the road edge. The second is of the White Christmas Golden Square Mothers Club. A truck is decorated with a large Christmas tree with children dressed for winter. At the right is a sign*Bendigo Olympic Pool Fun is now open* on the balcony with a crowd of people. The streets are lined with spectators with flags flying above the parade. The Third is a float carrying a train with VR in flowers on the side and a floral display on the float. This WWI Honor Roll was originally displayed in the Kilcunda Road State School (no.3337), which was located at the north east corner of the intersection of the Bena - Kongwak and Buchanans' Roads, Bena, Victoria, 3946. The school was located amongst the cypress trees at 645 Bena-Kongwak Road. The school was relocated in 2008 to the Coal Creek Community Park and Museum, 12 Silkstone Road, Korumburra, 3950 to become the Masonic Lodge building in the park display. On the west side of the intersection of the Bena - Kongwak and Buchanans' Roads is a brass plaque on a granite boulder with the following inscription TO COMMEMORATE THE DISTRICT OF KILCUNDA ROAD First Surveyed 1879. This is the site of the KILCUNDA ROAD UNITING CHURCH 1911 to 1966. Diagonally opposite at 645 Bena-Kongwak Road was the site of the KILCUNDA ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL No: 3337, 1902 to 1975. Erected by The School Mother’s Club continuing as The Kilcunda Road Social Club 2008. One of the few remaining historic items from Kilcunda Road settlement.Honour roll of varnished wood, with three panels, an undulating shaped pediment, plain columns at sides, painted gold text and the Australian Imperial Forces insignia on base.Roll of Honor, Kilcunda Road State School. These costumes include a beefeater, an English soldier with a bear skin hat, a soldier with a tin hat and a girl in a floral dress. The floral dress costume was used in a scene set in Holland with wind mills in other photos but this could be a different year. It is possible this was taken at a rehearsal by a newspaper and used in promoting the event. Here most of the costumes are made for the Annual Demonstrations. Mrs E Brown and Mrs M M Livingstone take a turn at the machines.' Pages showed news from the different Boys and Girls Classes and suggested physical exercises. Plus a piece on the Mothers' Club and the Intermediate Club activities. A hobbies page discussed model plane building. There pages on fashion and on possible careers. A newsletter published by Legacy in this format for many years from 1942. It mentions "Issued from time to time for Private Circulation among the Sons and Daughters of Deceased Service men and Merchant Seamen who served their Country during the War of 1914-18, or the present War". Articles on the work of Legacy, including features on boys classes, girls classes, camps, the residences and where their past residents ended up. Junior Legatees Judy Bishop (on the left) and Jeanine Shinners (nee Hunt) dressed for an Annual Demonstration performance. They were taught by Miss E. Domec-Carre and went on to become soloists and then assistants at Girls' Classes. Jeanine later became an active Legatee with SE Group. A photo of senior girls in a scene from an annual demonstration. The girls were dressed as native American girls, some are in a kayak and others stand near totem poles. One of these two photos was used in the July 1954 newsletter to highlight the work of the girls classes. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and Eurythmics. The Demonstration was an annual event to showcase their skills. Miss Enez Domec-Carre was the supervisor of girls classes and instrumental in the Annual Demonstration for many years.
