Photo is on the front only of the tram, one cab window smashed, dash canopy lighting cover partly torn off. Crew members - one inside tram, one on outside. Another person standing by the doorway wearing a leather apron. Trams has destination of Grey St. Sebastl" Person looking into tram wearing the leather apron is probably the driver of the Fruit truck that collided with the tram. Published in the Courier on 3/9/1971. 2nd copy added 29/5/05 - in good condition. Hi Res version added 16-12-2015. Black and white photo of ESCo No. 12 outside Wendouree Parade depot, post the 1912 installation of Motorman's windscreens. Both blinds rolled up. Has roof advertisement for "Carter & Werner Opticians" and a step ad for "Eureka Cos. BO Punch". Seat backs facing for passengers to sit on the outside of the tram., that is have yet to be relocated to face inwards only. See image 757.2 - that shows this. Three copies of photo - both from a copy neg. Copy 1, circa 1980, Copy 2, by John Phillips, 1993, Copy 3 ex Ken Magor, sent by Wal Jack to Ken. Rear of this print has extensive details on rear.Yields information about the appearance of one of the Museum's tramcars at the time of fitting windscreens and demonstrates the evolution of the ESCo's tramcars, and advertising. Tram 28 has destination of Mt Pleasant, coming from Drummond St. south, and carrying "Trotting Bray Raceway Thursday" auxiliary sign board on front of tram. Tram 32 has been decorated for Myers as a Santa or Christmas tram, and is outbound to Gardens via Sturt. St. Pole sign by Holden car has a Olympic rings sign on it, indicating location of Lake Wendouree and once was a tram stop sign. Taken on 23-12-1967. High Res Images added 5/3/2011. SEC Tram 17 and a former bus used as a food vendor stand, that has finished up in the front of S.E. Dickins Pty Ltd. (Grocers) store 1/10/1949. The tram derailed at the intersection of Sturt and Grenville St. collided with the bus and pushed it into the front of the store. Many people standing around the incident, including two trammies in front of the tram. Thought to be a Ballarat Courier Photograph. Wal Jack's caption advises the Bedford van was a doughnut kitchen. 1020.1 - added 3/06/2006 - small newspaper cutting with the same photo and a caption "While the driver was picking up lunch at Ashkar's pie shop, his tram ploughed into Dickin's grocery, on the present site of Norwich Plaza". Probably from The Courier, and date unknown. 1020.3 - as for 1020, from the Jack Richardson Collection with Wal Jack comments on rear. Comments on rear - see btm1020i4. Black & White Photograph of one of the ESCo Toastracks being assembled in the Exhibition Buildings in Grenville St., north of the Alfred Hall in 1905. The other open Toastrack or Summer tramcar is behind this tram, with other California Combination cars on the sides. The trams have yet to be fitted with wheels or equipment, including headlights. Note the front dash panel has been painted, but no headlight opening or cut out. The print for this photograph made from a copy negative of page 454 of the Australasian, August 19, 1905 in 1993. Print includes caption (all in caps) "Summer Traffic Car: to be used in trips to and from the Gardens. It is without sides, and has reversible backs. Ballarat Electric Tram Service". See Reg. Significant for shows the form and method of issuing a certificate of service for a specific person, his duties, and performance. Signed by the person who received the form. Shows that the person was retrenched by the SEC prior to final closure of the tramways.Single sheet of off white or light grey paper, titled "Certificate of Service" prepared by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SEC) for 'Dallas John Everett". Pre printed certificate form "FMI 5-190 R2". Occupation given as "Driver/Conductor, Tramways" for the period from 19/9/1967 to 3/8/1971. Gave conduct and ability as "Satisfactory" and reason for leaving "Retrenchment". Issued on 5/8/1971 by Personnel Superintendent. Has D. J. Everett's signature on left hand margin. Yields information about the change over from horse to electric trams and a comparison between the two types of trams, uniforms and clothing of passengers and the way destinations were shown.Black and White photograph, assumed a copy photograph of ESCo 16 and a horse tram - at Rubicon St where Sebastopol passengers transferred between horse and electric transport. No. 16 has two uniformed men at the front and a conductor on the rear stop, two children on the front seat and a lady on the rear. A uniformed horse tram driver is standing by the front of the horse. No. 16 has the destination of Grenville St, and a large sign "Sebastopol & Rubicon St Tramways via Drummond St". The destination is on the roof of the tram, possibly indicating early 1907 - 08. Used in The Golden City and its Tramways - page 42. Text notes the photograph was donated by a Mrs. I Butler. Three additional copies of the same photograph and a handwritten note from the donation of Karelyn Satter added 2-3-2016. .2 - handwritten note from the rear of photograph .3 (can be seen from the tape marks - was loose when received), giving the name of the man on the back step of the electric car - Frank Greenfield (Junior) and notes on the photograph itself. .3 - print mounted onto heavy brown cardboard with a scorch mark in the top left hand corner. .4 - print .5 - copy print on a small sheet - darker image. items .2, .3 and .4 to rear of box 77On rear of .3 has in ink "Mr. B.
