Warrnambool Rowing Club held regattas on the Hopkins River from about 1885. This was initially over a weekend in conjunction with Colac Rowing Club. Hamilton Rowing Club started a regatta after Colac moved theirs to the Barwon in Geelong. Example of a shuttle used for a loom in the weaving process. This shuttle was probably used as an advertising piece for Waddington's company as it is constructed differently to other examples of working shuttles in the museum collection. This shuttle is a a unique item in the collection as a shuttle made for advertising purposes instead of being made for use on a loom. Wooden loom with metal tips on either end. Loom is rectangular. A rug designed to celebrate the exhibition of Egyptian art 'Life & Death Under the Pharaohs' from 'The National Museum of Antiquities' in Leiden, The Netherlands. It was made onsite at the National Wool Museum on the 1910 Axeminister loom. Provides information on how a tramcar body was fitted with a wheelset or truck (Brill Radiax EB1 type). Lifted on the jacks after delivery by a horse drawn jinker from the Railway Station (See Reg Item 8321) The wheel set is being pushed under the tramcar by another tramcar. Once fitted the tramcar would have been towed back into the depot and the motors etc connected. Has the Blakiston & Co. building in the background. ARCHIBALD RUSSELL (1905-1949) Until 1922 completed numerous cargo voyages to Sydney, Newcastle, Fremantle, Geelong, and especially Melbourne. In 1923 she was bought by Gustaf Erikson, the famous Finnish ship-owner, and carried timber to Melbourne in 1926, 1927 and 1928, and carried grain from Geelong in 1927 and Williamstown in 1929 - and that was the year she won the Grain Race (93 days). She then carried grain from South Australia until the war and was then was taken over by the British and used as a food storehouse through the war. She was broken up in 1949 on Tyneside.
