Set of typed sheets and map: .1 - carbon copy on quarto paper titled "Average Shortest Headway lines north of Yarra", giving the average headway for each street, route, eg Collins St, .57mins and for West Melbourne 8.5mins. Has in pencil alongside in pencil, the times for "Royal Commission Report 1911" .2 - ditto "Average Shortest Headway lines south of Yarra" Has a note that these numbers were for ordinary weekday tables, holidays and special traffic excluded. .3 - Map - accompanied these reports, titled "Map showing tramway Lines", which has been marked up in red with numbers and the road names. Not understood what the numbers mean, could be a reference to a report numbering. Magazine - 20 A4 pages centre stapled - titled "MetLines - Vol 1, No. 9 December 1985", staff newspaper of the Metropolitan Transit Authority. Has a number of "Santa Claus" on the front cover. Contains an article on page 8, "Keeping tram lines clean" and "Scrubber Cars" - featuring Frank Reale-Key posing in front of Scrubber 8W. Also has a photo of scrubber No. 11. Gives a background to the cars, when they are used, operated by Civil Branch. Gives hours of use and crews. Another item is "Tram centenary celebrations a success" - Event and cavalcade of trams on 11/11/1985, celebrating the commencement of the cable car services in Melbourne. Notes the unveiling of a plaque by Mr Roper, assisted by Keith Kings of the TMSV. Other items tramway related are the celebration - 70th marriage celebration of Harry Heaton who worked at Preston, Glenhuntly depot cricket team and on the rear cover a photo of Norm Maddock at the Picnic function at Wattle Park. On page 3 is a follow up to a question on a MTOC conductor with the large safety pins of the era. Digital image of two reports and a letter - 41 A4 pages Report - titled "Melbourne's Trams and Tramways - Statement of Heritage Significance", Working Paper 1.1, dated May 2000, by Convergence Design Pty Ltd and Boyce Pizzey Strategic - Page 3 is missing - looks at the development of Melbourne's trams, the element of significance, the tramway system as an entity, Social and cultural influencers, the technological development, including tram design. The two page statement notes the tramway system as an evolving entity and technology. And included document is "A Brief History of Melbourne's Trams and tramways", considers the history of the tramway system, cable cars, W class cars, buses, WW2, postwar developments, Robert Risson and a heritage assessment. There is reference to maps and attachments, but these have not be included other than the sources. Has Metcard, Yarra Trams and Tram 109 logos. .2 - ditto advertising a competition to win a weekend package at Westin or Le Meridien at Rialton - buy a Metcard, fill in the entry form at the store. Has photos of the C class trams, driver console, hotels etc. Was originally contained within a plastic wrapper. Set of two reports regarding the difficulties of leasing the former MMTB head office building at 673 Bourke St following the move into the Little Collins Street building in 1936. .1 - Six page typed, part carbon copy, report (note the fist page has the carbon copy of another page in the report on the rear) Notes the extensive discussions with the Post Masters General Department, problems with discussions with the Board's agent, Mr. J. G. Membrey, possible sale of the building, issues within the PMG over leasing buildings, discussions with Bushell's Tea Company, lease to the RSL, then the RSSILA, through a Mr Bett, who then was in talks with the PMG to sub-lease the building, discussions with the Chairman, Mr. Cameron, which occurred. What a mess! .2 - two page carbon copy of report from Mr. J. G. Membrey to the MMTB discussion the issues with the lease, PMG, Mr. Bell and part occupied by the Radio Times. Also involves discussions with Mr. McGrath Deputy Chairmen when Mr. Bell was overseas. Report dated 19/10/1940. Set of 7 Agfa Colour slides, cardboard mounts, by Keith Caldwell dated 11.3.1962 of the transfer of cars from Footscray to the "Main System" the day after the system was closed. See Keith Kings history of Footscray notes. All trams running trolley wheels. .1 - Footscray depot cars X1 463, X2 678, X1 460 and X1 466 in Gordon St, about to turn into River Street. .2 - X2 678 turning from Nicholson St into Irving St. Footscray with the Rockmans Store in the background. This store was later demolished for the Ring Road. Also is J. Boltons Chemist shop advertising Kodak film and another shop advertising Darrell Lea Chocolates, Peters Icecream and ? Lopes fruit shop. .3 - X1 460 at same location. .4 - X2 678 crossing Maribyrnong River Bridge - note the person crouching down on the south side of the bridge behind the tram. .5 - X1 460 in Rosamond Road, just before the curve onto Williamson Rd. This site became the Bunnings site. The tram has a modified 21E truck. .6 - X2 468 as above with part of the curve in the view.
