Yields information a tram that was decorated for the 1938 centenary celebrations of the State of Victoria. Refer to pages 70 & 71 of "The Golden City and its Tramways" for these photographs and others in use and notes. The hand colour and then photographic reproduction adds to the significance of this print.Colour print of an original black and white photo print that has been hand coloured for reproduction of Ballarat (SEC 1st) No. 23, decorated for the centenary of settlement in the Ballarat district in 1938. Tram has female students on board, with conductor alighting. Shows track brakes on the tramcar. Tram has been coloured with pink and green colours, including the conductors uniform and the trees behind the tram. No. 25 (one of the best side on photographs of this tram ...Yields information about No. 25 (one of the best side on photographs of this tram) and the fitting or trial of roof advertisements that was a prominent feature of SEC trams from the late 1950's onwards. Noted in an actual photograph, only one roof advertisement fitted.Black and white print of a photograph of No. 25 in the SEC Ballarat depot yard fitted with two blank advertising boards on the roof. Understood prepared to give details to prospective advertisers or to show management how arrangements could be made. Advised by Ron Scholten on 2/12/2013, that "Alan Davis (Vic) Advertising" was the SEC's advertising agent and it has long been defunct. Photo taken late 1950's. Article titled "Lighting Effects in the Victoria Gardens, Bendigo", "High = Lighting in Bendigo", "An Echo from the Past". The article has photos of celebratory flood lighting in Bendigo, Victoria Gardens during 1937, for the Bendigo Carnival and Coronation Celebrations. Festivities were held in Victoria Gardens. Notes the Coronation tram car, illuminated and decorated. Has a photo of No. 21 outside the depot. Reprint of an extract from the Geelong Advertiser in 1912, 25 years ago of the opening of the Geelong tramways, passenger numbers and celebrations of the event. Printed colour postcard titled "City Hall and Shoppers Square Ballarat". Has an inbound tram showing the Grenville St sign on the rear, and one of the crossbench cars loading passengers outside the Town Hall. Shows Snows building, people in the median strip - busy holiday or a Sunday. Images of the front and back of the card and a close-up of the two trams in the bottom left-hand corner. Note the lamp or coloured destination sign on the roof of the inbound tram. On the rear, the postcard has been divided into two with the words "Post Card" and "Printed in Great Britain" on the top, a "Valentine Series" on the side. Addressed to Miss J Johnstone, 30 Weighbridge St, Flemington, and with the words "Dear Jeannie, / How do you like this one. / Maggie". Significant in being a roster rotation sheet that was corrected and reissued a short time later. Shows how the crews were organised in relation to their work and total times worked.Single sheet of off white duplicating paper titled "Rotation Roster S.134/ R.1 25/8/70". Printed by wax cut stencil or Gestetner method. Details the run number that an employee would do for a particular week and day of the week and the total hours mins worked that week. Has a number of pin hole in the corners and centrally showing that it was used on a board. Has minor changes in ink at the bottom of the sheet that lead to Reg item 2294. See also Reg. Yields information about Uniforms, badges, equipment and the equipment on the tramcars at the time - bumper bars and interior saloon blinds.Photograph of a four SEC crew, Inspector Arthur "Peter" Hugo on the right hand side standing in front of a single truck tram in SEC 1930's colour scheme, March 1937 (from Reg item 2926) at City Loop. Note the high set bumper bar on the tramcar and the large ticket wallet in the Conductors bags and the inside blinds on the windows of the saloon.
