Book, Hart-Davis, MacGibbon, The Boer war, 1977
The Boer War was an epic both of heroism and of barbarism. Fought by the British against the Dutch inhabitants of South Aftrica, the Boer War had an extraordinary cast of characters including Commanders-in chief buller, Roberts and Kitchener, Winston Churchill, Arthur Conan Doyle, Emily Hobhouse, Rudyard Kipling, and Gandhi. The war revealed the ineptitude of the British military, and exposed the corrupt underside of British imperialism . For the first time, Judd and Surridge debunk several myths. There was not, for instance, a straightforward divide between the Boers and British. In fact, the overriding aim of both sides was to maintain European supremacy and to keep Africans and Indians "in their place." Giving us a sense of how the Apartheid era was born.Index, bibliography, ill, maps, p.190.non-fictionThe Boer War was an epic both of heroism and of barbarism. Book (item) - Register, services, Service Register 1960 - 1988, 1960
This register records every Anglican service held in the St Peter the Mariner's Chapel from 10 July 1960 through to 30 December 1988. It also records the date, time of service, name of the preacher, text used for sermon, approximate numbers in attendance and approximate numbers of communicants. The service register is one a series of similar registers, recording similar information. However, they represent a continuity of Anglican service throughout the lifespan of the Mission to Seafarers Victoria. This also shows the way in which the Mission has adhered to its core values as a religious organisation.White sticker on spine: "ST PETERS CHURCH/Service Register 1960 - 30/12198register, st peter chapel, mission to seafarers, seamen's mission, flinders street, melbourne, anglican church, reverend c.j. eldridge-doyle, chaplain -

Album - Album page, Murray Street, Circa 1972
This photograph is part of the Caulfield Historical Album 1972. This album was created in approximately 1972 as part of a project by the Caulfield Historical Society to assist in identifying buildings worthy of preservation. The album is related to a Survey the Caulfield Historical Society developed in collaboration with the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) and Caulfield City Council to identify historic buildings within the City of Caulfield that warranted the protection of a National Trust Classification. Principal photographer thought to be Trevor Hart, member of Caulfield Historical Society. Most photographs were taken between 1966-1972 with a small number of photographs being older and from unknown sources. All photographs are black and white except where stated, with 386 photographs over 198 pages. Houses shown at 35, 58 and 32 Murray Street Elsternwick are still all extant (Google map image capture Dec 2018). Victorian Heritage Database - HO130 32 Murray Street Caulfield https://vhd.heritagecouncil.vic.gov.au/places/35535 (at 14/08/2021) No. 32 Murray Street is locally distinguished as the most imposing villa of its period in Murray Street whilst its association with J. W. Doyles, builder of several houses in the same street, is of interest. Its importance is enhanced by its substantially intact state.Page 138 of Photograph Album with four photographs (three landscape, one portrait) of 3 different houses on Murray Street.
