A biography written with Brian Hansen of one of Carlton's most popular playersPeter Jones AKA Percy played in four Carlton Premierships, 1968,1970,1972 & 1979. Percy played in the shadow of John Nicholls but when John Nicholls retired Percy became Carlton's key ruckman. Percy kicked many goals and his celebrations are legendary. In 1980 Percy was appointed Captain Coach but did not play a game and was left stranded on 249 games. A promotional event where Ron Barassi and Daryl Somers did a parachute jump to promote Legacy. Photos show Daryl and Ron in Fawkner Park in Melbourne and some Legatees giving scores on cards of their jump - similar to the scores given on 'Red Faces' a segment of Daryl Somers TV show 'Hey Hey it's Saturday'. The Legatees with President Brian Luscombe, George Logan and Peter Stokes. A class photo of a group of young legatees at a gymnastics class in Malvern. There are 43 boys, of various ages, in gymnastics gear. Legacy clubs ran classes for junior legatees for many years. It was part of providing for the children of their deceased comrades. The skills they learned were show cased in an annual demonstration usually at the Melbourne Town Hall. It appears to be photo taken professionally, as there are several photos of different classes (see 00862 - 00867) perhaps to record Legacy classes for promotion purposes. For many years Legacy had a "Back to Caulfield Race Day" for Legatees, widows and their families. In 1995 a Legacy 'Lone Pine' was planted. President Luscombe laid a wreath at the Lone pine tree. The article in the Answer says: "In spite of a somewhat 'windy' day for out "Back to Caulfield" race day, it was another success. Our President Legatee Brian (Lucky) Luscombe and Mr Peter Lawrence, Chairman of the VATC both made a speech and each laid a wreath at our 'Lone Pine' tree - a descendant of the Gallipoli 'Lone Pine'. Our pine tree was getting blown around ferociously, but its roots are firm - just like Legacy."Legacy retains a tie with Caulfield racecourse as it was once an army camp and staging post of young men going overseas to war and now it is the site of a lone pine.
