Clothing - JOHN KENNETH MARTIN COLLECTION: WW2 ARMY UNIFORM JACKET, 1939-1945
Clothing, khaki woollen WW2 army uniform jacket. Single breasted with four brown metal AMF buttons (2 cm). Two breast pockets, (16 X 18 cm) with fold over tabs. All button tabs fastened with 1.5 cm metal buttons. Long sleeves with stitched down cuffs with V shaped peak on upper side. Both sleeves lined with cream and blue striped cotton fabric. 30 cm split at centre back from hem. Button down epaulettes on each shoulder with three captain's pips and two black stripes. Cloth badges on top of each sleeve. 1. Navy and red unit colour, (3 cm X 2.5 cm). 2. Light green, brown and blue colour (5 X 5 cm) (unknown). 2.5 X 2.5 cm square metal badges on each corner at front of collar. 5.5 cm wide cloth belt with metal buckle. Belt attached on side seams at waist by leather tabs threaded through belt keepers and fastened with 1.5 cm buttons. Cap belonged to John Kenneth Martin, padre in 2nd Australian Corps AIF. Ladies grey blazer worn by Heather Pain as Pipe Major of the Ladies Pipe Band Bendigo. Grey woollen single breasted blazer. Grey satin lining across shoulders at back. Long sleeves lined with yellow and black striped cotton fabric. Body of blazer unlined. Three pockets on front-one on either side at hip level. One LHS breast pocket with red embroidery shield containing thistles, leaves and crossed swords. The pocket has a 1cm tartan bans across the top. Hip level pockets and lower sleeves have 1.5cm bands of red corded ribbon. Front opening is fastened with two X 2cm grey plastic buttons. Men's black woollen dinner jacket with black polished cotton lapels. Single breasted fastened with one X 2cm black fabric covered button, with another button attached to the back. Body of jacket lined with black self stripe cotton fabric. Long sleeves lined with cream coloured polished cotton fabric with fine black stripes. Front pockets below waist have slit openings lined with black cotton fabric. Slits at wrists of sleeves (5cm) fastened with 1 X 1cm black fabric covered buttons. Clothing - ALLAN MONAGHAN COLLECTION: TOKYO OLYMPIC BLAZER-1964
Clothing. Royal blue, single breasted blazer, with revere collar and three brass button front fastening. These three buttons and two smaller buttons on the sleeve cuffs, have the round sun symbol of Japan, and the Olympic Rings impressed into them. The breast pocket, with rounded lower corners has a cloth badge, 9.5 cm long X 6.5 cm wide, which is embroidered with a 5 cm diameter ball (of the sun) and five Olympic Rings in navy blue embroidery. One 20 cm long vent in lower centre back seam. Padded shoulders. Fully lined sleeves and front, while back is only lined across the shoulders. One inside pocket on each side front, has a button closure. Two pockets-22 cm long X 17 cm wide on either side of front, at lower edge. Single breasted. One small 1.4 cm diameter button, badge or Olympic pic, pin fallen from a blazer pocket. The button badge has a bronze like appearance, with impressed Japanese type characters on the surface. Simon McDonald lived in Melbourne Rd., Creswick.Simon McDonald (1906 - 1968) was a noted self taught Australian folk musician whose home was in Creswick. Consider in the industry as the most important.20 Button Anglo Concertina & Case. Hexagon shaped Concertina. Both sides have fretwork and 10 bone buttons making it a 20 plus single button Anglo concertina. The leather straps have at sometime been replaced with white plastic strap. It has 5 bellows in black and white pattern leather. Station Sign - Upwey
Upwey Station Sign; Upwey Railway Station is located on the Belgrave line in Victoria, Australia. This railway serves the Eastern region of Melbourne. Upwey Railway Station opened on the 3rd of June 1901. Upwey Railway Station has a crossing loop in the middle of a six kilometre section of single railway track between Ferntree Gully Railway Station and Belgrave Railway Station. The station was originally on the Upper Ferntree Gully to Gembrook narrow gauge line. The Upper Ferntree Gully to Gembrook Narrow Gauge railway line officially closed on the 30th of April 1954. It saw further use between 1955 and early 1958, when trains were operated by the Puffing Billy Preservation Society in co-operation with the Victorian Railways. The Upper Ferntree Gully to Belgrave section was converted to Broad Guage and re-opened on the 19th of February 1962. This station sign shown here was one of a number used on the Upwey Railway Station while it was Narrow Gauge. This coat was part of the Presbyterian moderator's regalia which also consisted of a tri-corn hat, black bib, lace jabot, britches, silk stockings, gaiters and buckled shoes.Black wool, lined cutaway coat with a crew neck. The coat has seven pairs of black buttons and is secured edge to edge with a single hook and eye at the 4th and 5th buttons. It has lace cuffs, braiding and pleats at the back. The black lining is quilted at the top and there is a pocket on the inside right breast. The sleeves of the coat are lined with white fabric and the lace cuffs are secured with six pearl buttons. The original single storey hotel was built by the vigneron, F. F. Bubeck. The hotel was destroyed by fire in 1901 and the present red brick building was built by George Millett. The hotel provided meals and accommodation for rail travellers.A coloured photograph of the Royal Hotel which is situated on the sw corner of Brook and Evans Streets. A grey car is angle parked on the LHS of the photograph and there is a line of plane treet around the curbside. The 2 storey hotel has red brick walls with cream trim around the windows and blue shutters on the windows on the upper storey. The roof is clad with terracotta tiles. Growing up in Sandringham, Joy Bosomworth learned to sew at the knee of her mother Elsie Myra Keefer, a seamstress. By the time she was an adult, she was making most of her own clothes. She made this shot velvet evening dress, along with a matching stole and bag, in 1961 to wear to a ball at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she worked as a radiographer. An evening outfit consisting of a matching dress, stole, bag and gloves. Sleeveless one-shoulder evening dress of blue velvet shot with metallic red. The dress is gathered at the proper left front waist and is lined with red synthetic fabric. Fastens with a zip and hook at the side. Stole of blue velvet shot with metallic red, lined with red synthetic fabric. Handbag made from blue velvet shot with metallic red. The bag has a gold metal frame and clasp, with a shot gold metal chain attached. The interior is red synthetic fabric, with a single side pocket. Stawell Post Office on corner of Wimmera and Main Streets. Erected 1875. Telegraph pole and streetlamp in foreground. Akins store visible at right of photo. The building has 3 arched doors & 6 arched windows on the ground floor and 8 square windows on the top story. Two chimneys on the roof and a wrought iron square fence on the roof. The outside of the building has not changed while the interior has been remodelled several times. The early Postmasters and their families lived upstairs. The main room originally included the Telegraph office where operators worked at machines, sending and receiving Morse code messages. Later alterations were made for a telephone switchboard room downstairs, with trunk line equipment upstairs.
