Administrative record - Laurel Cafe Check Book
The Laurel Café was opened in February 1929. According to newspaper articles, the Laurel Café was "one of the most up-to-date cafes in Victoria." The Café specialised in homemade cakes and served a range of three-course dinners to casual diners and private parties. A private room was available for weddings and banquets. 100-page check book for taking orders at Laurel Cafe in Williamson Street, Bendigo. Paper is yellowed and torn in some places. Cardboard backing supports the top half of the pages. Each page is numbered in red lettering, the number appearing twice, once above the tear line and once below. Torn paper held in place by staples at the books binding indicate that at least one page has been removed. Numbering of the pages indicates that the removed page was likely the check book's top cover.laurel cafe, williamson street bendigo, miss l. nankervis, bendigo -
