Cheltenham is a suburb in the City of Kingston that was originally established as a rural market gardening community. The area is bordered by Highett. The previous market gardens, farms and paddocks have gradually been sub-divided into housing and industrial estates. The Methodist Children's Home Methodist Homes for Children and St John of God Training Centre on the site of the future Southland shopping centre has not yet been demolished. The recently built Cheltenham High School is visible and the increased urbansation of the area is evident. Some farmland remains including the Le Page homestead.The developing urban area of Cheltenham within the City of Kingston. The Percy Uebergang family lived at Tooram Park, Allansford from 1912 until 1992. Percy and Myrtle Uebergang's children were twins, Ray and Joyce born in 1926 who lived at Tooram Park until their deaths, Ray in 1986 and Joyce in 1992. Neither Ray nor Joyce married and following the death of her brother Joyce set up the Ray and Joyce Uebergang Foundation which supports the local community. This bookis part of the collection of items given into the care of the Cheese World Museum. Uebergang catalogue No.K51 This book was school prize donated to Percy Uebergang in 1899 whilst a pupil at Cudgee State School.Green cloth hardbound book with gold print title 'Under Bayards Banner: a Story of the Days of Chivalry' and a in black print picture of two knights. On the spine the title is in gold print, the author's name Henry Frith, in black and a picture of a couple. On the back cover there is a black spray of leaves. The book includes eight illustrations by E Blair Leighton. The Percy Uebergang family lived at Tooram Park, Allansford from 1912 until 1992. TROVE : ''Rocke Tompsitt Pharmaceutical wholesaler Rocke Tompsitt and Co Ltd has returned to the profit list after recording a $20,381 loss during 1976-77. However, annual dividend has been reduced from 3.5c last year to 2.5c. The group announced yesterday an after-tax profit of $312,000 after sales of $27.09 million, up 26.8 per cent. Directors said the improvement in the profit had come from the return to profitability by the Victorian wholesaling company, and the inclusion of the profit from the T. G. Cullum group for a full 12-month period. They said the company's other subsidiaries had continued to trade profitably. The group had continued to operate profitably despite excessive government price control over drugs in pharmaceutical-benefit scheme.
