This campaign medal (the Victory Medal) was issued to all those who received the 1914 or 1915 Star and to most of those who received the British war medal. Recipientss had to be mobilised in any service between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918. This one belonged to James Pullar Cameron 8 Light Horse Regiment AIF. He was killed in action at Lone pine.James Pullar Cameron was the son of Robert Cameron one of the earliest settlers on the Orbost flats. He was a trooper in the 8 Light Horse Regiment and died at Gallipoli on 7 August 1915.A circular bronze medal. This note-pad and holder perhaps belonged to Jessie Bell whose name is written on the first page. There are several entries on the pages and the dates range from 1908 to 1929. The entries include references to a Banquet for Mr J. Duffus, Purnim, 1912, Jack Ross’ Wedding Party, Dennington, 1912, R.J. Jones’ Dance, Woolshed, 1928 and Leila Jenkins’ 21st Birthday Party, 1928. This notebook and holder is of interest because it is an example of the type of appointment book used by the more affluent in the early 20th century. This is a heavily-embossed silver note-pad holder with a hinged lid on the front and clips at the side to hold a pencil. The writing material inside the pencil is missing. The back of the holder has a blank space in the middle where a name can be inscribed. At the top of the holder is a ring, holding a chain with an ornamented clip at the end. This enables the holder and pad to be hooked over a belt or lapel. Inside the holder are fifty paper pages on which to write appointments or notes. The pages are gilt-paged. The Warrnambool Rowing Club was formed in the 1880s when there was a renewed interest in rowing and many young men were taking up competitive rowing. The Warrnambool Rowing Club used the new boatsheds erected in 1885 by Fanny Nelson near the mouth of the Hopkins River where the Hopkins Hotel was operating (Simpson Street). This badge belonged to a member (number 333) in the 20th century but the name of the owner is unknown.This badge is of interest but has no provenance so is useful for display purposes onlyThis is a small metal badge enamelled in blue and silver. This photograph album appears to have belonged to Agnes Ardlie. She was the daughter of Arthur and Ethel Ardlie of Warrnambool, the grand daughter of the prominent Warrnambool lawyer, William Ardlie and his wife Mary and the great granddaughter of John and Mary Ardlie, pioneer settlers in Warrnambool. Agnes Ardlie (1915-1993) and her sister Dorothy lived for some years at Aroona, 19 Princess Street, Warrnambool. This album is of interest as the photographs are of Agnes Ardlie and her extended family in the 1920s and 30s and thus provide an insight not only into the lives of a prominent Warrnambool family but also gives us a glimpse of the social aspects of the lives of the more affluent families in Warrnambool during that period and of the custom of keeping photograph albums to preserve the photographs.This is a soft cover photograph album with a light brown cover bound with white string. This kit bag is a World War Two issue for Australian Army soldiers. The bag belonged to Leonard John Hyland of the Australian Army. He was born in Woolsthorpe in 1921 and was the son of John and Edith Hyland. He enlisted in March 1942 and was discharged in 1946, holding the rank of sapper at the time as a member of the 2/1 Australian Docks Operating Company. He died in Parkville in 1985 at the age of 63. Pages from a scrapbook belonging to Heather Jenkins (nee Cone) who lived as a child in the Police Residence at 728 Main Road, Eltham from 1911 to the early 1920s. Images featured are 1. A peep on the road, nearing Research. 2. The Main Road at Eltham (opposite Railway Station). 3. A part of the new railway line. 4. The mail coach leaving for Kangaroo Ground.Heather McKnight Jenkins (nee Cone) was born 1911, possibly at the Eltham Police Residence and spent her childhood growing up in the Police Residence. Heather was the daughter of John Thomas Cone, Police Constable, and Charlotte Helena Cone (nee Black) who had married in 1906. Constable Cone was transferred to Eltham Police Station from Lauriston (near Kyneton) in May 1911. He retired from the force around September 1922 most likely as a result of significant health concerns experienced earlier that year from 22 April when he was hospitalised. He died 5 October 1922 at Maria Street at age 60 leaving behind a widow and two daughters; his son having pre-deceased him as a result of effects of the war. He is buried in Melbourne General Cemetery . In his probate it states that he owned a piece of land 200 links frontage to Maria Street and a depth of 241 links. It is believed that this is the land opposite the Police Station which Heather Jenkins referred to as being owned by her father and where he agisted the Police horses. Heather, her sister and mother Charlotte remained in Eltham until at least the 1924 Electoral Roll where Charlotte was listed as Home Duties however by 1925 she was listed at 229 Glenferrie Road, Malvern, occupation, Registrar of Births. In the 1934 (and 1936) Electoral Roll, Heather was a Clerk and her mother Charlotte was the Registrar of Births. in 1952 following her mother’s death she made application for Grant of Probate. Heather remains listed in the 1954 Electoral Roll at 13 Ashburton Road under her maiden name Cone however by the 1963 Electoral Roll she is listed at the same address as Heather McKnight Jenkins long with James Gardiner Jenkins. Neither appear listed in the 1958 Electoral Roll. James Gardiner Jenkins (1892-1975) first wife was Fanny Davison Carrucan (1899-1929), daughter of Denis Carrucan and Jane (nee McAleese). They married in 1925. Fanny died 11 November 1929. In the 1934 Electoral Roll he remained listed at John Street, Eltham, Railway Employee however by 1935 Electoral Roll, James Gardiner Jenkins, Railway Employee, was listed at 229 Glenferrie Road, Malvern and he remained living with Charlotte and Heather Cone when they moved to 13 Ashburton Road, Glen Iris. One of Constable Cone’s first investigations upon arriving in Eltham was the accidental fatal shooting in the head with a pea rifle by young Francis August Capewell, aged 11, of John Sutcliffe Deegan, 14, in Maria Street near the Railway. Constable Cone’s replacement was Constable William Charles Sargeant who commenced in charge of the Eltham Police Station from Thursday, 10 August 1922. Constable William Charles Sargeant, and his wife Elizabeth Agnes Sargeant were based at the Eltham Police Station until his transfer to the Police Station in Burwood Road, Hawthorn. He retired at Hawthorn Police Station in 1931, described by Hawthorn Council in 1927 as in a disgraceful condition and unfit for human habitation (Kathryn Griffin family tree – Ancestry) whereupon they moved to 28 Saunders Street, Coburg. Elizabeth died 16 July 1936 in Fitzroy. William then moved to 6 Queen Street Coburg in 1936 and then 1 Queen Street in 1942 where he died 7 August 1944. He is buried at Fawkner Cemetery. This kit bag belonged to Keith Litchfield Arnel. Born in Kensington on 23 August 1910, and enlisting in Melbourne at the age of 33 on 14 July 1944, Keith Arnel served in the Royal Australian Air Force. At the time of his discharge, Keith Arnel had become a Flying Officer with the Air Force Headquarters Telecommunications Unit. Keith Arnel had two service numbers, VX68230 and 129880.Blue-grey kit bag, cylindrical in shape, constructed of one circlular piece at base with rectangular piece forming sides. Open at one end and fastened with a cream cord drawstring threaded through metal eyelets and fastened with a brass D shaped ring threaded through two eyelets. Inscriptions in cream-white paint on side of bag. The Julian Smith direct blood transfusion pump was invented by Dr Smith in Melbourne in the late 1930s. Smith founded St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne and was known as an inventor and photographer as well as a pioneering surgeon. His blood transfusion innovations were adopted worldwide during the 1940s. This belonged to Dr Bill Rawling's and was in a medical bag that he was used in the 1940s and 1950s. This paper was read on 14 June 1965 by Dr Frank Forster at a meeting of the section of Medical History, Victorian branch, Australian Medical Association, according to Ann Tovell, who worked at the AMA and in association with Frank. It was likely that Frank Forster acquired the midwifery box belonging to Mrs Mary Howlett at the former Eastern market that was located on the corner of Bourke and Russell Streets up to the early 1960s.Mary Howlett (1840-1922) began practising as a country midwife in 1866 in the western district of Victoria. She qualified as a 'ladies monthly nurse' in 1887 and continued to practise as a nurse and midwife until 1920.She began her six months training at the Melbourne Lying-In Hospital. She was known by many as 'Auntie', and her career spanned more than 50 years. Mrs Howlett's midwifery box and contents were given to Dr Frank Forster, and he donated them to the museum collection in 1993.A5 size paper transcript of lecture. Soldier has been identified as PTE Alan George William Hooke (11513). Alan was a Baker by trade. His father was William Hugh Hooke and his mother was Margaret Holloway Hooke. Alan was born in Rutherglen in 1893 and died in Melbourne in 1978. He is the older brother of Norman Hooke who was KIA in France 1916. Primarily a painter, Mandy Nicholson also produces ceramics, carvings, murals, prints, designs and children’s clothing. Born in 1975, Nicholson was raised in Healesville and belongs to the Wurundjeri-willam (Woiwurrung language) clan of the Kulin Nation. Mandy’s paintings often represent important cultural rituals and are executed in her distinct graphic style. She uses the traditional motifs of her people blended with contemporary interpretation.

The quatrefoil design similar to other chapel decorative arts, suggests these vases may belong originally in one of the MIssion Chapels. Possibly either the demolished 1937 Building at Port Melbourne or the original Chapel from the early 20th C at the previous Mission Building in Port Melbourne. Possibly donated in the name of Olive Cramer along with an organ lamp and memorial plaque mounted in the Chapel of St Peter.Many people see the quatrefoil as representing good luck. Christians, on the other hand, see the quatrefoil as representing the four Gospel writers: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. This musical instrument belonged to Donald Robert McDonald who was a member of a prominent South Warrnambool family. As his army service number is on the case it is presumed that he had the musical instrument with him during his wartime service (World War Two). Donald Robert McDonald (b. 1908) enlisted in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. He was a bombardier in the 2/4 Aust.
