This kit bag is a World War Two issue for Australian Army soldiers. The bag belonged to Leonard John Hyland of the Australian Army. He was born in Woolsthorpe in 1921 and was the son of John and Edith Hyland. He enlisted in March 1942 and was discharged in 1946, holding the rank of sapper at the time as a member of the 2/1 Australian Docks Operating Company. He died in Parkville in 1985 at the age of 63.
Significance
This bag is of interest as it belonged to Leonard Hyland, an Australian Army member in World War Two. Hyland was from the Warrnambool district.
