Item originally belonged to Professor Bruce Mayes, University of Sydney c1950-65. According to Professor Warren Jones the item had been in a back room of the medical facility and Professor Mayes gave it to Warren Jones, otherwise it may have been thrown out. Warren Jones took it with him to Adelaide where he practiced from 1975. This item may have originally been imported from Germany.Uterine flushing tube, possibly Bozeman-type. Selection of metal files used for cutting wool bale stencils with an accompanying box. Not all files belong to this box as some are too long to fit within. Used in Denny’s Lascelles Bow Truss building by Maurice Dalton who was the foreman of the building for 34 years. Files are ‘Cup Brand’ – ‘Best refined steel files’ and were manufactured by the no longer trading Moss & Gamble Brothers LTD at the Franklin works in Sheffield, England.12 steel files of varying length, thickness and shape. The longest and thickets are in a flat half circle with some files being fully flat, others complete cylinders, one is a complete square and others are in the shape of a triangle. Margaret Ellen Holloway was born in 1864 at Indigo via Rutherglen. She married William Hugh Hooke in 1892. Their children were : Allan b 1893, Ida Mary b 1895, Normal b 1896 KIA 1916 WW1, Maxwell b 1902 and Violet b 1904. The orchard that Margaret is photographed in is the family orchard and farm belonging to relatives being the Mills and Holloway families. The orchard was south of Barnawartha. Soldier tradesmen belonging to the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps (RAEME) were attached to and Armoured Corps regiment as a Light Aid Detachment (LAD) to provide battlefield repairs to armoured vehicles. Captain Jim Farrelly joined 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles as a trooper. Sections of the property from the Ferris Rd to the Toolern Creek were compulsorily acquired for the construction of the Melton By Pass road to become the Western Freeway. The freeway plan divided the original 1911“Darlingsford” farm. The section of the Ferris Rd 70-acre paddock belonging to Bon became the Freeway and roundabout. The construction to the west passed over the paddocks and the internal track along the fences connecting the Barrie brothers to the original Homestead at the Toolern Creek. The Jacket belonged to Dennis James Powell, enlisted on 7.5.1941 No VX55199. Was a POW, discharged on 21.12.1945 in 2/29th Bn. Served Korea in the 3rd Bn No 32729 from 27.5.1951 - 14.8.1951, 24.9.51 - 22.4.1952. The service ribbons on the jacket are; 1939 - 45 Star Pacific Star British War Medal Australian Service Medal Korea Medal Un Medal Korea. The pants have posssibly been used to make up a uniform. 1. This is a black woollen jacket. It has 4 front pockets. It has Sgt's stripes on arm (Gold). It has RA Inf buttons. On the collars are another pattern RA Inf button - Kings Crown. Since the mid-1600s, barometers have been a useful tool for boaters to measure air pressure in order to predict weather changes out on the sea. A change in pressure causes the dial's indicator hand to move. Aneroid barometers have a circular display face much like a clock that indicates the current atmospheric pressure. Part of a collection of objects belonging to Robert Hodgson. He was a fisherman and part of Shore Line Engineering.A circular white round face with black numbers around the edge starting at 80 and going up in 1 number increments to 106. Language is in Russian. A thermometer is on the face of the lower half starting at -10 degrees Celsius and up to 40 degrees Celsius going up in 10 number increments. A glass panelsits above the whit face and it is held together by a metal edge. The back of the barometer is black bakelite.

The Melbourne branch was formed in 1887 and became the biggest and most influential women's organisation in Victoria. The WCTU introduced large numbers of Victorian women to political activity. The Union linked temperance and women's suffrage to achieve a variety of social reforms to improve women’s lives. This album was part of the collection of that belonged to William (Bill) Thomason. Bill was a collector and ran a small military museum in View Street Bendigo for a time. This features the men of D Company, 2/31st Battalion. The album has no provenance as to its author, though it is likely to be an as yet unidentified lieutenant featured in the 'Syria and Palestine' set in this collection. The collection focuses on personnel and operations of the 2/31st Battalion in Palestine, Egypt and Syria in 1940-41. A bathroom set would have been a common item in most households in the 19th century and up the mid 20th century. Not many of the bathroom sets, however, would have been as fine and as attractive as this one as this one would have belonged to a family with some wealth. Bathroom sets went out of common use once houses were sewered or had septic tanks and toilets and bathrooms were constructed inside the main house building. This set is of interest as an example of a common household item in houses 100 years ago or more. It will be useful for display.This is a five-piece china bathroom/ toilet set. The five pieces that comprise the set have a white background with a floral pattern in sage green monochrome with roses, carnations, sweet pea and dianthus. In the pattern are also tendrils and foliage. The jug is an elongated oval shape with a decorated handle. The interior of the lip is chipped. The circular bowl has an indented ridge at the top with interior and exterior decoration. The bowl is partly discoloured and there is some crazing. The toothbrush holder has a vase-like shape with an indented rim with fluting on the top. The chamber pot is circular with a decorated handle and one crack. The soap holder is circular and has three parts – the circular decorated base, the inset piece with a fluted edge and one large and six small holes for draining, and the decorated lid which is also fluted around the edge. This book belonged to Con O’Mahony (1863-1920). He was a lawyer practising in Warrnambool in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was born in Sandhurst (Bendigo) and studied at Melbourne University. In 1883 he won the University of Melbourne Bowen Prize for his essay entitled ‘The Federation of the Australian Colonies’. The Warrnambool and District Historical Society has a set of books on the lives of the British Chancellors which was given to Con O’Mahony for winning the Bowen Prize. This book is of considerable interest because it belonged to Con O’Mahony, a prominent Warrnambool lawyer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is also a book of strong antiquarian interest. This is a hard cover book of 878 pages. It has a dark red cover with red lettering on a gold background on the front cover and gold lettering on the spine. There are 250 illustrations scattered throughout the text. The cover is somewhat scuffed, especially at the edges. The inscription in handwritten in pencil. ‘C.O’Mahony, 13.9.93,WBool’ con o’mahony

This album belonged to Dorothy and Agnes Ardlie of Warrnambool. Dorothy Ardlie (1910-1993) and her sister Agnes Ardlie (1915-1993) were the daughters of the Warrnanbool law clerk, Arthur Ardlie and his wife Ethel, the granddaughters of the prominent Warrnambool lawyer William Ardlie and his wife Mary and the great granddaughters of John and Mary Ardlie, pioneer settlers in Warrnambool . Dorothy and Agnes Ardlie lived in their early years at ‘Aroona’ in Princess Street, Warrnambool. This album is of interest because of its association with Dorothy and Agnes Ardlie of Warrnambool and because it has photographs of some historical interest, especially those of Warrnmbool houses and their interiors in the mid 20th century. This is photograph album with a red cover with a suede finish. It has silver-coloured printing on the front cover and has gold-coloured spiral binding. Because of the initials JV on the bottom part this portable desk possibly belonged to James Volum (1803-1884) The volum family originally from Peterhead, Scotland, had a long seafaring history. Several members of the family were mates, ship captains in the whaling industry and the merchant navy. James Volum settled in Geelong with his brothers, Andrew Volum and William Volum. He purchased brewery there (Volum Brewery) and the Barwon paper mill at Fyansford.This set is a rare example of campaign furniture, a type of portable furniture an officer or ship captain would take with him to bring his personal belongings. This type of secretary would have been used by Volum to write in the ship log.2 sets of drawers setting one on top of each other. The "Hermits" were a group of young men from Collingwood who had camping holidays at Evelyn (now Mount Evelyn) between 1908 and 1911. They took photographs, and were mentioned in a diary kept by two girls who spent their holidays in the area in 1911. The diary and photos were found in a collection belonging to Dorothy Higgs, a sister of one of the Hermits, following her death in 1978. The Kiewa Valley Rifle Club belonged to the Australian Rifle Clubs. They were in the Military District No. 304 and operated as early as the 1920's. In 1876, an Australian Rifle Team, consisting of shooters from N.S.W. and Victoria was the first team ever to officially represent Australia in any sport in international competition. In 1885, the first civilian Rifle Club was formed. In 1921 they were reconstituted as a purely civilian organisation where they have remained ever since.This scoring book is evidence that the Kiewa Valley Rifle Club existed from the 1930's, enabling its members to participate in a sport that had 12232 members and 313 Rifle Clubs in Victoria by 1939.Hard covered dark brown book with very yellowed pages that have come away from the spine.
