Photo Album - green card slip case containing heavy grey card covers front and rear, front protective page and 12 photo pages with adhesive surface and clear plastic sheet cover - on cardboard sheet bound by a heavy white comb binder marked "Photo Album" on the front inside cover. Each page has scanned to a pdf file. Page 1 - newspaper cutting and two photos of Ballarat No. 27 completing 1,000,000 miles. Item from "A Place in the Sun" written by Keith Dunstan. Photo of tram 27 by the Ballarat Courier. Date of Photo. 29/6/1968, taken prior to the TMSV Tour of that date. Black and white photograph of a group of the passengers on No. 27 during the celebration of the tram reaching 1,000,000 (million) miles in Ballarat. Glenys George, Brian Weedon, John Fitzsimons, Graeme Turnball, Paul Nicholson, Barry George and Kevin Clark. Page 2 - black and white photograph of Geelong Nos 2, 8, 4, 1 and another 4 wheel tramcar and a open cab motor bus photographed within the interior of Geelong depot, prior to 1924. Black and white photograph of 2 trams at Preston Workshops c1948 First tram 500 is a W2 class tram built by MMTB at Preston Workshops in 1928. It entered service 27/4/1928 and was withdrawn from service and sold in 1981. The tram's destination is shown as "Special". The tram has been fitted "T" lettered taillights. The second tram, 198, is a Q1 class single truck straight-sill combination tram built by the MMTB at Holden St Workshops. It entered service in 1923 and was reclassified as a Q class tram. It was converted to all night service in 1937 and operated until 1957. Photo looks staged as a school child in uniform leaning at door, driver and passenger in front window are all staring at the photographer. Note the tram has a trolley wheel fitted, the stop is a compulsory stop and that there is a light fitting above the tram with a tinted glass shield that indicated the type of stops at night. This is a Camberwell Depot tram bound for Malvern Town Hall assisting movement of School children in Glenferrie Road in the afternoon. Note the Camberwell Run number in the driver cab window. Book produced by the Science Museum provides a brief history of the cable tram system, with photos. Includes details of the engine houses, the cable, the grip mechanism, the ticket bell punch, and why "Mind the Curve". Has a list of acknowledgments. Published shortly after or at the time of the launch of the tram in the enclosure in Russell St. The additional sheet with the book provides details for each route of route, the location of the city terminus, suburban terminus, running time, night light, route length, first and last car for each day of the week.
