Photograph of 9 Junior Legacy teenage girls in their Legacy gymnastics uniform, practising with a pianist seated at a piano. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and Eurythmics, often in the Market St premises. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades to showcase the skills, from 1928 through to 1980s, usually held at Melbourne Town Hall. The beautiful costumes were made by members of the Junior Legacy Mothers' Club and the Melbourne Legacy Wives' Association. This is a perpetual annually presented trophy for the Orbost Marching Girls, the Waratahs. It was donated by local jeweller, Roy Cope.Together with a chaperone's blazer, a uniform and photos this trophy forms part of the history of the Orbost Marching Girls group.A wooden trophy with a triangular base and metal shields. Two colour slides of girls in a swimming pool at a camp in 1958. The pool could be at the house of a legatee and is also used by boys camps in other slides. Was with many other slides taken in the 1950s and 1960s. The slides have been photographed to make digital images and moved to archive quality sleeves. Between the 1920’s and 1950’s the YWCA, Blue Triangle and local committee of representatives organised an Inter House Athletics Day for Girls in Geelong and Melbourne. Local Geelong business, such as the surrounding woollen mills, business firms and church clubs would form teams of seven women to compete in a variety of sports such as bowls, basketball, hockey, cricket and soccer.
