Max Havelaar: Or the Coffee Auctions of the Dutch Trading Company (Dutch: Max Havelaar, of de koffi-veilingen der Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappy) is an 1860 novel by Multatuli (the pen name of Eduard Douwes Dekker), which played a key role in shaping and modifying Dutch colonial policy in the Dutch East Indies in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. In the novel, the protagonist, Max Havelaar, tries to battle against a corrupt government system in Java, which was then a Dutch colony.The novel was central to the growing public awareness of corruption and exploitation by the Dutch colonial master in the East Indies. Published in 1860 it is considered the highpoint of Dutch literature in the 19th century. Hard cover book by Dr.J.van den Bergh published in 1920 containing a newly selected collection of extracts of the publication "Ideen" (Ideas) by Multatuli. The book is in 2 parts and contains about 600 pages. There are a number of drawings as illustrations.The illustrator is Anton van der Valk. -

This is a modified version of the original Clover inhaler. Joseph Thomas Clover preferred this modified version over his later, portable regulating ether inhaler.This modified Clover's ether and chloroform inhaler is composed of metal and is cylindrical in shape. There is a gas distribution control key on the top and a metal hook enables the operator to hang the vaporiser from a strap around his/her neck. These leather soled shoes were used by railway workers undertaking work on overhead electrical cables and HV boxes. Between 1954 =- 1965 thousands of these cameras were made. This contributed to the recovery of Germany after World War 2Agfa Clack Camera in green plastic case. It is a bulky looking moulded plastic camera using 120 roll film. The enclosure holding the film is made of steel and is held to the main body by a large rotated key at bottom. The exposure counter is on the lower back. The camera takes eight 6cm x 9cm photos on the 120- film.|a small view finder is fitted on the top of the camera. It has two speeds B (bulb( for long exposures and M for standard photos. Speed is approx 1/30 second with two aperture settings - f11 = overcast; and f12.5 = sun.
