Gate Key, 1870s

Historical information

This key was to the Sacred Heart Convent gates which were originally located off Skene Street. At the time, Skene Street was considered the main entrance to Geelong from the West. The Convent entrance was built to face this major though fare. The gates were later moved to an entrance at the southern end of Retreat Road.

The original key to the Sacred Heart Convent.
