Appointed to both the Mission to Seamen and the Chinese Church Mission in Little Bourke St Rev'd Wong and his family commenced his appointment at the Mission in 1963. A former head of the 1500 student Kei yen school , Hong Kong he was accompanied by his wife and two sons Timothy and John. Ordained a Deacon in 1953 he became a priest in 1955 and was inducted on arrival in Melbourne by Bishop Sambell. The family arrived on the cargo -liner "Tjiluwah".Rev'd Stephen Wong was the first Asian Port Chaplain appointed and worked at the Mission part-time form 1963-1968. He played an important role in raising awareness among asian seamen and was perhaps the inspiration behind the first Mission brochures to be printed in Chinese characters. Rev. E. H. Chapple (1866 - 1956) was educated at the University of Melbourne, and was ordained a Wesleyan minister. He was admitted Presbyterian in 1904. Matte, black and white 3/4 studio portrait of Rev. Edward Henry Chapple who is standing and looking directly at the camera. He is dressed in an academic gown over his clerical suit and collar and is holding a rolled document in his left had. Reverend Alexander Morton was the Presbyterian minister in Orbost between 1894 and 1904. Rev. Alexander Morton earned great respect from the Orbost community, during his ministry here between 1894-1904. He brought with him from the New Hebrides timber which was used for the pulpit. Affectionately known as “Sandy” Morton, he was very friendly and endeavoured to reach all his bush parishioners, often on horseback. He was known up the Gelantipy Valley as an itinerant Preacher with a difference, he often doubled as a dentist, who was quite adept at pulling teeth, often with a pair of pliers. The bust of Gough Whitlam had gone missing from the Prime Ministers' Avenue, in the Ballarat Botanic Gardens.The Prime Ministers' Avenue in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens is unique and the Ballarat community are proud to have this commemoration of Australian Prime Ministers. School history - ref https://ourholyredeemer.cam.org.au/history In 1904 Fr. George Robinson erected a weatherboard school-hall where the present hall now stands. It was blessed and opened by Archbishop Carr on 20th November of that year. In January 1905, the Sisters of St Joseph took charge of the school. Archbishop Mannix opened and blessed the new brick school on 10th November 1918. From 1941-1972, Fr Tim Fitzpatrick was parish priest and head of the school. He is the priest on the LHS of this large school photo. The new Warrnambool Methodist Church was opened on 1st April 1939. The Church complex was designed by Messrs A.S. and R.A. Eggleston and built by J.D.E. and T. Walter. It comprised a church seating 430 people, an assembly hall seating 300, kindergarten and primary classrooms. The three ministers present in the photograph were: Rev B. Wylie (Hamilton), Rev N.
