It is not known where this photograph was taken. James(?) Scarf who lived at Madden's Flat was said to be a charcoal burner (Source - Bill Grigg Snr in interview with Max Standish - typescript in Grigg family file.)Black and white copy of original photograph which shows a more or less circular stack of timber. The stack appears to have been made from the thinner branches of trees.
