On December 17,2007 the Carols by Candlelight launch was held in the City Square. With music by John Foreman, the McClymont sisters, Anthony Callea, Australia Girls Choir and others, Santa and live crosses from Channel 9 weatherman Steve Jacobs, there was much for attendees and passers by to be entertained by. On November 25, 2005 the Kodak Carols by Candlelight launch was held in the browsing library at Kooyong with a large number of staff and guests in attendance. Speeches were made by Gerard Menses, Graeme Innes, Greg McKibbin, Marjorie West and Marina Prior. The crowd got to open Christmas crackers and hear some songs from Marina Prior before a cake was cut and shared. Afterwards everyone headed outside for the burying of the time capsule by Jarryd Clifford and Reuben Ryan, in the garden outside the cafe. Donated by artist Tamlyn Teow in 2015, the multi-textured picture portrays two figures dancing together. From the artist: "The Dancers" was an inspiration that came to me when I closed my eyes to listen to a musical track and wondered what it would be like to be blind. Then I recalled a conversation I once had with a man who was born blind and he described the city to look like "a big lake flowing in between buildings of all different shapes and colours. In 2004, Kodak provided cardboard Christmas decorated cards for photographs to be used as Christmas cards. From 1979, the John Wilson Award was awarded to individuals who made a significant difference to the lives of those around them. Wycheproof Historical Society in November 2010 co- ordinated and hosted the re- opening of the refurbished Wycheproof Station to great acclaim. Tilly Aston was the founder of the Association for the Advancement of the Blind, which became the Association for the Blind, Vision Foundation and later Vision Australia. Her work in expanding the options available to blind and vision impaired Victorians triggered the push for similar conditions inter-state, and she was a pioneer force in challenging perceptions of both the sighted and less-sighted communities. Eva Fisher was a valued member of the AFB and wished to commission a sculpture for the grounds in the front of Paterson Hall. Noted sculptor Ian Bow was commissioned and created Urban Cycle, a seven panel metal sculpture that follows the development of the local area. Prior to receiving the commission, Ian Bow went through a period of temporary vision loss, which gave him insight into how the sculpture could be appreciated by the blind and low vision community. The different stages are: Harmony - Two pelicans amongst reeds. Intrusion - Frog, kookaburra, mice, fish, lizard and butterfly. Expansion - Doors, windows and roofs under tree canopies. Industry - A factory with large chimney blowing smoke. Density - Multiple boxes, some with figures inside, are crowded beneath a bridge and dome. Decay - Boxes with broken doors and unfinished concrete. Renewal - A church with a Calvary cross over roughened surface.Heptagonal cast aluminium sculpture with seven panels arranged around a central metal pole.Thanks to the generosity of Evangeline Annie Fisher this sculpture, entitled 'Urban Cycle', was created by Ian Bow in 1975 and depicts stages of development of a city through the use of tactile forms.
