These photos are a pictorial and historical record of the early construction days of the Kiewa Scheme and a personal record of the photographer, Ronald George Thorn, of his days as an engineer with the SECV. He worked in the Kiewa area as a cadet engineer from 1948 to 1950 and then in 1953 - 56 as an electrical engineer grade 2.These photographs tell the story of one man's involvement in the construction of the Kiewa hydro electric scheme during his employment with the SECV.A foolscap sized sheet of light weight cardboard with nine small black and white photographs pasted on side 1 and eight same sized black and white photographs pasted onto side 2. The Mission to Seafarers held many social functions to raise funds for the work of the organisation and to benefit visiting seafarers. Many dances were held on a Saturday with good attendance. On the pillar on the left of the stage there is a photograph of a monarch, possibly King George VI, thereby dating the photograph at pre-1953.The Mission to Seafarers as an organisation is dedicated to not only providing spiritual and practical support to seafarers, but has long found it important to provide social opportunities as well. Small information book issued to boy scouts attending the Pan-Pacific Jamboree at Greystanes, Sydney in December 1952 & January 1953. The light brown cover has a drawing of a boy scout, the Jamboree logo and some musical notes all in medium blue. The two volumes contain transcripts of a selection of correspondence between the partners, as well as some explanatory text. The first volume covers the establishment of the partnership in 1953 to 1956-57 when Robin Boyd was Visiting Bemis Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Volume two continues from 1957 covering all the later years – the NGV project, the break-up of the partnership in 1963, the formation of Romberg and Boyd, Robin Boyd's death and Romberg's years in Newcastle (1965-1975) and his return to Melbourne (see item D270).Bound hard cover booklet, with approx 123 foolscap pages, typed photocopy.Title page has "Suzy Boyd 11.1.87 at Boyds' Canberra Weekend 10.1.87-12.1.87. Moorabbin Football Club was formed in 1909 and was affiliated with Federal Football League (FFL) 1909-1950 and then Victorian Football Association (VFA) 1951-1963. The club won 14 premierships in that time. Their nickname was the Kangaroos.
