She was a Prefect for Walker 1960, Vice Captain 1st Tennis '58-'60, and member of the netball team 1960; In 1959 an inaugural inter-school tennis competition was played. Clarendon defeated High School and Queens but were defeated by Mary's Mount (see The Touchstone December 1959 p, 36) Sandra returned to the school as a teacher and Walker House Mistress 1968-1973, 1975, 1985-1997 and 1999. If orgniasations required to examine Ballarat residents they often requested the Ballarat School of Mines to supervise the examination. This correspondence highlights such a case - where exams from a London organisation were conducted at the Ballarat School of Mines. A selection of correspondence from Bunge Pty Ltd (Garden City flour Mills) to the Ballarat School of Mines. (.1a) White typed letter on Bunge letterhead relating to students in course milling undertaking examinations through the City and Guilds of London. The candidates were R. Chamberlin, B. Price, T. Boermans and G. Ellis. All were resident in Ballarat. (.1b) Typed letter on blue paper from A.G. Blake, head of examinations Division 1 at the City and Guilds of London Institute re examinations of students under the supervision of the Ballarat School of Mines. (.1c) Typed letter on white paper from Principal of the Ballarat School of Mines, Harry Arblaster, stating they are awaiting further direction from London. This shop, in Main Street Rutherglen, near Poachers Paradise pub (originally the Rutherglen Hotel), was owned and operated as a barber shop by Jack O'Keefe. This photograph was taken in 1986. The couple in front of the building are probably Jack O'Keeffe and his wife. At present (2019) part of this shop is again operating as a hairdressers, as Jack and the Fox.Colour photograph of the front of a shop with a banner below the veranda identifying it as the Wine and Gold Country Museum. The building is located in Main Street Rutherglen next to the Poachers' Paradise Hotel. Below the banner is a shop sign "Hairdresser & Tobacconist" and another "Tourist Information". Bottom left shows Jack Orr's clothes hoists. Bottom right is Horman & Woolhouse plumbers. This area was demolished in 1965.Typed below photograph, "Former Ringwood Mail office, Adelaide Street, 1955". Catalogue card reads, "Adelaide St. looking along laneway to west showing former "Mail" office and Billiards Pool to left, 1955." Written on backing sheet of one copy, "Lane between Bamford's Timber Yard, corner Warrandyte Rd. and Maroondah Highway. House demolished 1965. Booklet, Wadsworth & Company, Recollections of the War Hospital Keighley and its Auxiliaries 1916-19, circa 1920
Keighley War Hospital at Morton Banks was originally The Morton Banks Fever Hospital and after local funds were raised, extra wards were built to turn it into a War Hospital. It opened in time to take some of the first casualties from the Battle of the Somme in July 1916 and continued until the end of the war. The War Hospital Register archived at Keighley Library contains 13,214 names of servicemen who were treated there. It also contains the names of German prisoners of war who were being held locally and required treatment from time to time, notably from the influenza epidemic. Morton Banks had 746 beds. The book records the details of the hospital between 1916-19 including staff, hospital layout and departments, the Auxiliary Hospitals, Discipline, Recreation, Education, Comforts Committee and Affiliated Associations.Document of Military Hospital in Keighley, U.K. during WW1. Contains significant information on staff and different departments at the hospital.Carboard and paper booklet of 48 pages. The cover is beige with green border with black and red writing. Silverfish have eaten top right corner of cover.On front cover is publisher Wadsworth & Company, Russell Street, Keighley, (also known as Rydal Press) title and cost of Sixpence.
