This photograph is believed to have been taken after the laying of the foundation stone for the Parish Hall, in 1909. The Ballarat Star of 1 September 1909 reported that "After the ceremony an adjournment was made to the Shire Hall, where afternoon tea was served by the ladies of the congregation." On 26 August 1967 members of 5 Platoon, B Company, 7 RAR were lifted by United States Army Iroquois helicopters from their location beside the road leading to Dat Do, and returned to their base at Nui Dat in Phuoc Tuy Province. These soldiers had completed the cordon and search of the village of Phuoc Hai, part of Operation Ulmarra. This iconic image is etched on the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial on Anzac parade in Canberra. Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries. The images held within the National Vietnam Veterans Museum make up the Gibbons Collection.
