Wooden box inlaid on top and front with hard white material (unknown) printed with sprays of violets. Box has metal decoration: images of violets surrounded by metal edging, ornate corner scrolls. Written on piece of paper stuck inside box: 'The Violet Box. This box is a relic of Bendigo Survey Office where the Pinniger family lived from 1878 to 1890. The box originally belonged to a Mr. Black, who with Grandfather (T.W. Pinniger) and the others, Messrs. Allen and Turton, did the first geodetic survey of Victoria. Pallett and Wiseman operated out of "Coopers Timber Yard", Bridge St., Bendigo. They operated a steam chaff and corn crushing mill. The six men in the photograph are as follows: Back row L-R: Brothers John, Angelos and Andreas Lekatsas. Front row L-R: unknown, Anthony J. Lekatsas and seated, Marinos Lucas. Members of the Lekatsas (Lucas) families were some of earliest Ithacan to settle in Melbourne and were very active in the Ithacan community. A. J. Lucas was the founding president of the Ithacan Philanthropic Society. They were also highly successful businessmen and very entrepreneurial. A black and white newspaper photograph of six men. A group family photo of the Vlassopoulos family (Kopela) from Lahos taken in 1925 in Ithaca. Eugenia Vlassopoulou (nee Raftopoulou) is pictured with her in-laws and five young children. Her husband, Dimitrios Vlassopoulos, was in Australia at the time. They did not reunite till 1950. Back row L-R: Panos and Eustathios (Stathi) Vlassopoulos. Prior to migrating to Australia Dimitrios had been to America where he had worked in cafes. He brought with him many ideas which he introduced in his business in Red Cliffs. Stathi, Pano and Costa all migrated to Australia in the 1930; their mother, Eugenia and siblings Erigoni and Nikos in the 1950s. In the early years the family had cafe businesses in Red Cliffs and Hopeton. Like other Ithacans members of the Vlassopoulos family migrated to Australia during the first half on the twentieth century and went on to open businesses in country Victoria and Melbourne. Black and white photo showing a group of people on the spillway of Belgrave Reservoir (at the time in the Belgrave Autocamp which is now called Belgrave Lake Park). The photo is taken from a person in a boat, the prow of which is visible at the bottom of the image. Three older boys are crouched to the left of the image. All are wearing shorts, shirts, and shoes with long socks, and two have pullovers. In the middle of the photo is a man with three children. The man is crouching. The children are in a huddle. To the right of the image are two adults standing on the spillway. The person on the right is male but the other's gender is uncertain. Between them and the children is what looks like a large portable radio. Behind the group is a heavily treed area which includes three or more white-trunked trees close to the spillway. In the distance is a white house with a verandah running across the front. This house belonged to Laura (surname unknown) before WW2. The house appears to be (now) 30 Judkins Ave.The photo has a white border and on the back is printed '1627'. It probably dates to the 1940s and is part of a collection of family photos donated by Pam Harris, Shire of Sherbrooke President, 1982-3 & 1987-1988.

The Pickersgill family were the original settlers on Churchill Island, and amongst the earliest at Griffiths Point, now San Remo. Samuel Jabez Pickersgill, is the seventh of nine children of Samuel and Winifred Pickersgill of Churchill Island fame. Samuel Jabez lived from 1866 – 1956, and in his old age wrote down his memoirs of his early years in the 1870s and 1880s.
