Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH) Australia is the Asia-Pacific centre for teaching and research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and is known as one of Australia's leaders on the field. VIOSH has a global reputation for its innovative approach within the field of OHS management. VIOSH had its first intake of students in 1979. At that time the Institution was known as the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. In 1990 it became known as Ballarat University College, then in 1994 as University of Ballarat. It was 2014 that it became Federation University. VIOSH Australia students are safety managers, senior advisors and experienced OHS professionals. They come from all over Australia and industry. Students are taught active research and enquiry; rather than textbook learning and a one-size fits all approach. VIOSH accepts people into the Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hazard Management who have no undergraduate degree - on the basis of extensive work experience and knowledge. A petition from Intake 18 students of the Graduate Diploma in Occupational Hazard Management was sent to Mr Bob Goodbourn - Course Coordinator of VIOSH, Prof D W James - Vice-Chancellor of University of Ballarat, Prof G Anderson - Head of School, Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences, Mr P Martin - Senior Lecturer, School of Information Technology and Mathematical Sciences, Ms K Whytcross and Mr P Johnson - Student Representatives. The students request that Mr Peter Martin present the lectures for MG473 Statistics and Modelling in Semester 2, 1995. He has lectured the students in MG472 Statistics and Modelling during the first semester and his method teaching to a class with a majority of adults students has been excellent - clear, well paced and caring manner. His adult teaching skills provided students with confidence and encourage discussion in class. List of students and signatures were provided. Hand written note from Gerry Anderson to Bob Goodbourn stated that they do their best to accommodate requests but cannot guarantee anything. In general it is inappropriate to make decisions based on student interests. Students and their positive comments are appreciated. Bob Goodbourn was asked to pass the comments onto the students concerned.Three A4 pages - third mainly handwritten in pen. Around 1940-42 the clockwork mechanism was wound by hand for payment of 2/6 (25 cents) per week, payable half yearly. The clock tower was removed and re-erected in 2000 at the intersection of Maroondah Highway and Wantirna Road, with a new electric winding mechanism. The story of the Ringwood Memorial Clock Tower erected 1928 at a cost of approx $1700 and unveiled 4-Aug-1928 at the intersection of Maroondah Highway and Warrandyte Road. It commemorates those who served and those who lost their lives in WW1.ROLL OF HONOUR; Addison, W.J.; Allan, A.; Bailey, A.F.; Bolton, E.; Brain, W.; Brown, A.G.; Brown, W.; Brown, C.H.; Browning, D.; Brocksop, P.; Bruce, R.T.; Butler, W.J.; Cairnduff, J.B.; Castles, D.; Chivers, S.R.; Chivers, A.; Clemson, J.K.; Cutts, C.W.G.; Cutts, N.F.L.; Cooper, J.; Dehne, P.C.; Dawes, L.F.; Dawes, F.A.; Dawes, C.A.R.; Foster, A.; Franks, C.V.W.; Ford, T.; Franklin, E.; Fitts, E.; Goodall, R.; Goodall, J.H.; Grant, T.W.; Guy, W.H.; Hannah, J.; Harris, D.B.; Hardidge, B.; Hains, C.L.; Hefferson, R.H.; Hodgetts, L.F.; Hodgetts, W.C.; Homewood, L.; Howship, M.L.; Howship, F.R.; Howship, S.P.; Hubbard, H.; Johnston, W.J.; Johnston, R.A.; Johnston, C.H.; Justice, Rev. Sculpture - Public Artwork, George Grant, Thomas Moore Memorial Statue George Grant, 1889
Irish poet and balladeer Thomas Moore, best-known for penning The Minstrel Boy and The Last Rose of Summer, is honored in this statue prominently located in Sturt Street created by sculptor George Grant from white Carrara marble. George Grant was trained at the School of Art associated with the National Gallery of Victoria, apparently in the 1880s, and then worked as an artist, specialist house painter, and banner artist. Several of his paintings are held by the Ballarat Art Gallery. Moore`s writings range from lyric to satire, from prose romance to history and biography. His popular "Irish Melodies" appeared in ten parts between 1807 and 1835. Moore was a good musician and skillful writer of songs, which he set to Irish tunes, mainly of the 18th century. This statue is of historic and aesthetic significance to the people of Ballarat.Marble statue of Thomas Moore above a large sandstone pillar West: Presented to the City Council of Ballaarat by the following citizens: H.F.
