The Morwell War Memorial Morwell War was unveiled on 06 June 1921. The Memorial was originally the level crossing between Commercial Road and Station Street (later Princes Highway). It was later moved to its present position on the Princes Highway opposite Hoyle Street. Ned Ryan was a local resident and former shearer who became a permanent resident and then green keeper. He was a valued member of the club and was the father of the current green keeper, Hugh Ryan. This event was created in his memory in 2003. The Honour Board was donated by Mr D. W. Rogers (David but always known as Bill) who was a long time summer resident of the town. Fred Moore was a long time holiday maker with a house in Robertson St, whose children continue to visit. This event is played on the long weekend in January and is very popular as non handicapped players can play. Draw for partners, no handicaps required, and it is a 12 hole event. It is the only time the practice tee is used in an official event, it is used as the first tee and the first becomes the 10th.
