Samuel Lewers was the first manager of the Bank of New South Wales in Linton, from around 1860 until he retired. Samuel Lewers was the first chairman of the Woady Yaloak Roads Board, first president of its successor the Grenville Shire Council, and a Justice of the Peace who presided at the Linton Court House on a regular basis. Honora Perkins, the daughter of George and Julia Perkins, was accidentally killed when a cart in which she was travelling home from school was overturned near Linton.Statutory declaration, handwritten on pale-blue lined paper, written (presumably by Samuel Lewers) for George Perkins, who could not read or write. Asserts that George Perkins has insufficient money to pay for the burial of his child Honora Perkins, who was accidentally killed on November 30th, 1868. Linton man William George Pyke served overseas with the AIF during World War I, and was repatriated to Australia, but died suddenly shortly after his return. As reported in the Ballarat Star, 29 July 1919: "Quite a gloom was cast over the township when it became known that Cpl. Wm. G. Pyke, a recently returned soldier, had dropped dead while at work on Saturday morning. The deceased soldier was working on the Recreation Reserve with a party of other returned men, effecting improvements under the Repatriation grant, supervised by the local council." John William Henry L'Oste was Reader at St Paul's Church of England, Linton, between 1863 and 1866.Black and white copy of original photograph of a headstone for Charles Alphonsus L'Oste, who died age one day in1864. The names of his parents, John William Henry L'Oste and Sarah Ismay L'Oste, are also recorded on the headstone. Thomas Kennedy was Linton's policeman from about 1865 to 1885. He served as a Shire of Grenville Councillor and was President on multiple occasions. He purchased farming land at Spring Vale (later known as Pittong) and named the property 'Fingal Park'. In retirement he built a house, 'Kin-Kora', in Cumberland Street, Linton.
