Newspaper cutting titled Long Gully school has a proud record. Paper dated Wednesday, February 14, 1990. Article was Community Focus with Maurie McDonald. The school was holding a reunion on Sunday, April 1. Article mentions some history of the school, distances from other schools and the meetings and a petition to get the school. Eventually a tender was accepted from Crawford Brothers, Bath Hotel, Sandhurst, for 2745 pounds, for the erection of the new building with an extra 50 pound for white brick facings. The new school was opened by the Minister of Public Instruction on January 15, 1879. There is a photo of the school in the article. There are also two pink photo copies of the article. Cornish Association of Bendigo & District Inc. Newsletter Volume 7: Number 4: December 2001. Titled Early Ethnic Gold Pioneers. Members met at the Chinese Museum before taking a walk down the street to view the Centenary of Federation display which is housed in the Museum, situated in the Old Post Office. Sir John Quick is also mentioned. On Right - Les & Marie Norris Newsagency & Mixed Business. 2 story building was Commercial Hotel. No 26 Tram was the last to run between Bendigo, Long Gully & Eaglehawk. Still running as a Tourist. On the other side is written: One building has already been demolished and the proprietor of the Newsagency & mixed business Mr. L W Norris, will also demolish and rebuild further back from the road in preparation for eventual re-alignment of the Long Gully bend by the Country Roads Board. The Board declared an alignment some years ago for the corner - a severe traffic hazard - but, the assistant Divisional Engineer, Mr G Marshallsea said yesterday the Board had no immediate plans.
